The WVU Institute for Labor Studies and Research hosted the 11th annual UMWA Summer School at the Lakeview Resort in Morgantown from August 16-19. 71 participants attended from 9 different states. The keynote speaker was UMWA Cecil Roberts. Seven ILSR faculty members taught nineteen different classes to the participants. Special thanks to ILSR Research Analyst Paul Martin for the photograph.

The West Virginia AFL-CIO and ILSR partnered to host the annual Leadership Academy in Glade Springs from June 22-26. Thanks to all the new and returning students for another successful round of labor education.

West Virginia School Service Personnel Association (WVSSPA) and ILSR partnered to provide the successful and 1st Annual Summer School to nearly 30 participants in Morgantown from July 12-16. Students took classes such as The Structure and Function of the US Labor Movement, Labor History, Leadership Development, and Managing Student Behavior. We look forward to growing this in the years to come. Special thanks to WVSSPA Public Relations Specialist Meghann Slaven for the photographs.

The participants at the very successful and recently completed 2014 UMWA Summer School with ILSR in Morgantown, WV. There were 65 participants from 9 different states, and guest speakers included International UMWA Secretary-Treasurer Dan Kane, UMWA Vice-President and WV House of Delegates member Mike Caputo, and UMWA International Representative Jason Haught.
