How can you get your child ready for school? Here are tips from some MLA staff:

-Sleep! Set a firm routine and keep devices out of the bedroom.
-A good breakfast to start the day.
-Be sure they can unzip/unbuckle/unbutton their clothes to go to the bathroom.
-Have them get used to their backpack - what goes in it and where. Can they zip it themselves?
-Figure out what they want in their lunchbox (which is, of course, labeled with your child's name). Have them help! Be sure they know to bring back anything they don't eat so you can monitor what they like and what they don't. Can they open everything on their own?
-TEACH THEM TO TIE THEIR SHOES and practice putting them on and taking them off.
-Can they put on a coat by themselves? Zip it up?
-Discuss how to find an adult to ask for help/guidance of any kind.
-Talk about how it's ok to make mistakes - that's how we learn!
