Just a reminder as you’re planning your week that Friday is a 2 hour early dismissal. Expect buses to arrive at their stop 2 hours earlier than normal and cars should be in the car rider for dismissal at 1:00.
Next Monday, September 7, is No School for Labor Day.

PreK is celebrating their first full week of school with science experiments. They made different slime recipes to see which had the best outcome- as you can see, they were all messy!

Ask your Blackbear one fact they learned about Dolly Parton after their music rotation this month. We are spending one day of music celebrating the life of the Queen of Appalachia starting this week. Many of our students, as well as others in WV, benefited from her Imagination Library and knew her from the books, but there were some who recognized her music. QuaverEd 📚🎶

Just last week, these students were walking into kindergarten for the very first time. Today, the Class of 2039 is already looking like a group of pros! ❤️

They're learning routines, making friends, writing their names, cleaning up, sharing, exploring, and discovering what it means to be part of a classroom community. It's amazing to see how much confidence and growth can happen in such a short time.

💚💙Wednesdays are school spirit days at Eastwood. Our generous PTO supplied tshirts to all students last year. If you don’t have an Eastwood shirt, join us by wearing either blue or green.
The shirts our staff are modeling were a gift from PTO that show each of the Eastwood cohorts: Brooke trouts, eagles, honey bees, and wolves.
Let’s fill the halls with blue and green Wednesday!

Follow Eastwood PTO for upcoming events, meetings, and volunteer opportunities. The first PTO meeting is September 10 at 3:45.

🎶 Dear 4th and 5th grade students & families,
Are you interested in joining our Eastwood Choir?
Choosing to participate in choir requires commitment and responsibility. Choir meets additionally to our weekly general music classes. You will not receive a trimester grade for choir as you do general music. Therefore, I expect that any student who signs up for choir will exemplify the Eastwood Way in every rehearsal because you chose to be in this ensemble. If behavior becomes an issue I will reach out to guardians in an attempt to find a solution without being dismissed from choir. However, if I speak to guardians more than once I reserve the right to dismiss the child from choir permanently. Students and guardians, please discuss this opportunity at home and if you are interested, please email me at [email protected] with the following information: Student name, grade, classroom teacher, and parent/guardian name. I will be adding a Choir group to Rooms once we are up and running to communicate throughout the year.

Getting our cubs back last week was amazing! We built community within our classrooms, explored the campus, learned procedures, and more. We’ll continue that this week as well. Wednesdays are school spirit days, so wear your green and blue. We’re ready for week two! 💙🐻💚
