For many students with military experience, starting an online degree can feel surprisingly unfamiliar.

To explore that transition, we collaborated with Ryan Wagner, an online adjunct professor under the , a U.S. Army veteran, and someone with firsthand experience working with military-connected students.

Ryan shared practical advice on finding a rhythm that works, building school into an already busy schedule, asking questions, and recognizing the skills military experience can bring into the online classroom.

One of his biggest pieces of advice? Treat school like any other commitment. Put it on your calendar, make time for it, and hold yourself accountable.

Not every student follows the same path to a degree, and WVU Eberly College of Arts and Sciences's online Multidisciplinary Studies, B.MdS program exists to support them.

Instead of choosing one traditional major, students choose three minors and bring them together to create their degree. That means one student might combine areas that lead toward a career in business, while another builds a path around communications, public policy, technology, or something entirely different.

The result is a program where no two students’ academic paths have to look the same.

In our latest staff spotlight, Jarret discusses the many career paths emerging within the esports industry and why students should look beyond competition when thinking about a future in gaming. From marketing and content creation to event management, broadcasting, and business operations, there is a growing need for professionals who understand the industry from multiple perspectives.

Back to school does not always mean a first day on campus, a new backpack, or moving into a residence hall.

For some students, it means starting college for the first time. For others, it means returning to a goal they put on hold, changing direction, or finally making time for a degree they have wanted for years.

There is no single way to go back to school, and there is no perfect time to do it.

As the first week of the semester wraps up, Associate Provost of WVU Online Chad Mezera reflects on what returning to school looks like for the students who choose an online path. Their lives, responsibilities, and reasons for going back may be different, but they share a willingness to keep moving forward.

In our latest feature, Frank DeMarco, Director of the Hardy Family Hospitality and Tourism Program, shares how WVU's online Hospitality and Tourism Management, B.S.B.AD. offered by WVU John Chambers College of Business & Economics prepares students for careers in event planning, tourism, recreation, destination marketing, entrepreneurship, and more.

As DeMarco explains, "When you manage a resort, it's more than operations. It's a city. You need accountants, PR people, Management Information Systems professionals, and technologists. We need all the disciplines to keep things running."

With hands-on learning opportunities, industry partnerships with leading hospitality brands like Nemacolin , and two required internships, the program helps students build the business skills, connections, and real-world experience needed to succeed in a growing industry.

The app now helps customers stay connected through store updates, promotions and a rewards system, showing how WVUOnline students are turning ideas into real-world impact.

In this feature, we explore WVU College of Applied Human Sciences's online Sport and Performance Psychology, M.S. program and how it teaches you to help performers reach their potential across a wide range of settings like sports, business, healthcare, the military, and the performing arts.
