MTEC carpentry students are putting their skills—and their math—to work as they create a beautiful brick sidewalk, one brick at a time.

Hands-on learning. Real-world skills. A whole lot of hard work and dedication.

Our Goose twins, Geraldine and Gerald, have had another amazing week at MTEC!

Today, Geraldine dropped by the MTEC Greenhouse to inspect the hard work of our incredible JOBS program students. Safe to say, she gave her official stamp of approval and even found a snack! She was especially impressed by the juicy grapes, ripe tomatoes, and fragrant rosemary. 🍇🍅🌿

Meanwhile, Gerald helped the Carpentry students with their walk way project! This hands-on masonry project is taking shape brick by brick, and Gerald gave it his official honk of approval. 🧱🔨🪚

Our newest student, Geraldine B. Goose, sister to Gerald, had a busy day learning what it takes to be a member of the pharmacy team!

Today, she was introduced to:
-The basics of pharmacy ethics and laws
-Medication safety
-Counting by 5’s and filling her first prescription
- The importance of attention to detail in a pharmacy or medical lab

She even participated in a compounding lab with the 2nd year Pharmacy Tech students!

We think she did great for her first day, but she’s not quite ready to pass her certification exam!

Here's to another great week of learning!

Also, a few reminders:
· Our annual MTEC Open House and Car, Truck, and Motorcycle Show will be on Sunday, September 13, 2026. Setup starts at 10 AM, Show runs from 12 – 3 PM. Our ProStart food truck will also be selling a variety of items to raise funds for their program!
· Friday, September 4th is a 2-Hour Early Dismissal and Monday, September 7th is a Holiday.

➡️Choosing a career pathway is a big decision, and these first-year Automotive Technology students at MTEC are already putting their future in gear! 🚗🔧

Our two-year program prepares students for careers in the automotive industry through hands-on learning in maintenance, brakes, steering and suspension, electrical systems, HVAC, and more. Students can earn industry-recognized certifications, pursue ASE credentials, and even become eligible for a West Virginia Inspector License.

Fresh off his arrest for welding shop safety violations, our goose, Gerald, is officially doing his principal-ordered campus safety course!

ProStart/ Baking & Pastry: Learned how to follow safety guidelines while working in the kitchen. He tried to help whisk the butter, but his entire body is stuffed with polyester, so he mostly just hovered near the sauce pan and avoided the fire!

Information Management: Handed a broken Chromebook and a tiny screwdriver, he successfully stayed safe while using various tools in the IT Lab.

Early Childhood Education (ECCAT): Attended a read-aloud session with the big dogs! He didn't interrupt once! And he learned even more about the 6S Simulated Workplace protocols!

Medical Assisting & Therapeutic Services: Gerald learned how to safely take patient samples while working in the Medical Lab.

Four classes down, zero safety infractions today. Keep up the good behavior, Gerald G. Goose!

We have a situation, folks. Our new student officially learned that being adorable does not grant you immunity from the 6S Simulated Workplace Protocols.

On Friday, our goose waddled directly into the Welding shop—completely unbothered, zero thoughts behind those bead eyes, and WITHOUT SAFETY GLASSES. He stared straight at the giant "Safety Glasses Required" sign, let out a smug honk, and kept going. Blinded by confidence? Maybe. Blinded by an arc flash? Not on our watch!

The Law & Public Safety class acted fast. Cadet Charlie slapped the cuffs on his wings before he could even attempt to fly away to freedom.

MUGSHOT DETAILS:
Suspect: Gerald G. Goose (Stuffed, but highly suspicious)
Charges: Reckless Honking, Criminal Trespass, and Aggravated Failure to Wear PPE
Bail: Set at 3 handfuls of cracked corn and a full safety orientation

Gerald is currently being held in the principal's office until he completes his mandatory OSHA-10 training. Let this be a lesson to all students: NO PPE, NO SERVICE. Safety glasses are non-negotiable!
