Two heads, one great summary. ✏️

Eighth graders at Butler County Middle School teamed up to read an informational text and write a summary together, putting the Collaboration pillar of the Portrait of a Learner into action.

Principal Tim Freeman says working in pairs pushed students to talk through ideas, agree on what mattered most, and build a stronger summary than they could have written alone.

Four pieces of tape. A stack of paper. No instructions. 🗼

That's all sixth graders at Butler County Middle School needed to put Collaboration into action. Working in teams, students had to plan, test, and problem-solve together to build the tallest tower they could, with no teacher-led steps along the way.

Principal Tim Freeman says the challenge was a hands-on way to build the teamwork and communication skills that matter far beyond the classroom.

August started strong for 26/27 with Butler County Schools having an attendance rate of 95.55%. This is well above the state average of 92% and currently sitting above our annual goal of 95%.

August Excused Absence: 60
August Unexcused Absences: 425
August Present: 26,926

As a reminder school success correlates strongly with attendance. Research shows nearly all high school drop outs and 80% of failing students have poor attendance as a contributing factor. Showing up matters!

*If you have to miss for sickness, death in family, please get that in within 10 school days to be excused!
