We're Hiring: Part-Time English Language Learners Instructor – Western Piedmont Community College
Do you love helping adults build confidence in English? WPCC is looking for a part-time ELL instructor to teach English Language Learners right in our community — including classes at a local elementary school and a local church.
📅 Schedule: Mondays & Tuesdays, 2-hour sessions
Morning session: 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM
Evening session: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
📍 Location: Community-based (elementary school & church sites in the Morganton area)
What you'll do:
Teach beginning through advanced ESL to adult multilingual learners
Build lessons around listening, speaking, reading, writing, and everyday communication skills
Help students prepare for jobs, further education, and life in their community
Create a welcoming, culturally responsive classroom
What we're looking for:
Strong oral and written communication skills
One of the following: NCCCS ESOL Credential, TESOL Certification, a Bachelor's/Master's in TESOL, ESL, Applied Linguistics, English (ESL emphasis), or Education (ESL concentration) — or the ability to obtain a recognized ESL credential within 6 months
Nice to have:
Experience teaching adult English learners
Familiarity with CASAS assessments
A background in workforce ESL or cross-cultural communication
