From our friends at the Burke County Health Department: Burke County Public Health, located at 700 E. Parker Road, Morganton, provides recommended childhood and adolescent immunizations to help students start the school year protected and ready to learn. Vaccines available include DTaP, Tdap, Meningococcal, Meningococcal B, HPV, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, MMR, Polio, Varicella (chickenpox), Hib, Prevnar (pneumococcal), Rotavirus (RotaTeq), and combination vaccines including Pentacel and Vaxelis. Appointments are required for all immunizations, and patients under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at the time of their visit. Burke County Public Health accepts a variety of insurance plans, including Aetna, Medicaid, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, NC State Health Plan, Surest, UnitedHealthcare (UHC), Ambetter, AmeriHealth Caritas NC, Carolina Complete Health, Healthy Blue, Humana, Partners Health, Vaya Health, WellCare, MPE Medicaid Presumptive Eligibility, and TRICARE. Patients with insurance providers not listed or without insurance coverage may be subject to fees at the time of service.

BCPS Summer Meals continue this week through August 13! These meal options are free for anyone 18 and under. Reminder that all meal sites are closed next week, June 29 through July 3, for the Fourth of July holiday.
Daily lunch in cafeterias: Starting this week, only Mountain View and Valdese elementary schools are serving daily lunch. Visit one of the locations Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Children 18 and under can get a free lunch at these sites, and meals must be eaten in the cafeteria. Find these menus on the Nutrislice website: https://burke.nutrislice.com/.../summer-lunch/2026-06-22 Please note, Friday options and on-the-go meals listed on the menu are for YMCA daycare only.
Meal bundle pickups: Each Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., stop by one of our meal pickup sites- East Burke High School and Table Rock Middle School. Each meal bundle contains 7 breakfast and 7 lunches plus milk for each meal for each child in your household. Children do not have to be present- just let us know how many children you are feeding.
Starting July 6, the food truck will make stops in Morganton, serving daily lunch Monday through Thursday. More information to come next week.
