Finally...finally finished this dreadnaught. I didn't like the first go around on the top finish, too blotchy. This time I'm very happy. Gold hardware, frets, and gold mother of pearl. Bird's eye maple binding and trim. European spruce top on mahogany body. Feels nice, sounds great. May be a keeper since I don't own any of my dreads these days.

New years day update, stain and lacquer nearly completed. Birds eye maple trim really pops, in person anyway. Still need...

New years day update, stain and lacquer nearly completed. Birds eye maple trim really pops, in person anyway. Still need a couple more coats and then final wet sanding and buffing before final assembly.

I should have taken a few shots while the binding was going on, but I forgot to. Binding is complete, neck is 95% fitted to the body. Time to do the final sanding in preparation for the finish.

I didn't want the job. Too many potential pitfalls. But it turned out pretty good. Way underestimated the time involved to: reset neck angle, rebuild bridge, and bridge plate (the magic that keeps the guitar from exploding) straighten out the bowed neck, rework upper fretboard and truss rod area. Done!
