📚✨ Celebrating the voices of our young authors! ✨📚
Through Morganton Day School’s participation in the North Carolina Reading Council Young Author Program, our students became published authors, writing original stories inspired by this year’s theme: Advocate, Educate, and Empower.

We extend a special thank you to Carolina Barbosa, our Spanish teacher, for partnering with the Burke County Library Council to bring these stories to life along the Greenway. This project is a wonderful reflection of our students’ creativity and the value Morganton Day School places on developing strong writers, thoughtful thinkers, and confident communicators.

We invite you and your family to take a walk along the Greenway and enjoy the published works of our students. Their stories demonstrate the power of words to advocate for others, educate communities, and empower positive change.

After 26 years of dedicated service, love, and commitment to our students and school community, Mrs. Cape will be retiring from education at the conclusion of this school year to pursue her call to ministry.

Throughout her time at MDS, Mrs. Cape has made a lasting impact on countless students, families, and colleagues through her kindness, wisdom, and unwavering dedication to education. Her presence has been a meaningful part of our school community, and while we will greatly miss her, we are excited for her as she begins this new chapter.

We invite you to join us for a drop-in retirement celebration in honor of Mrs. Cape as we gather to thank her for the many ways she has touched our school community and wish her well. Please stop by to share memories, celebrate her incredible career, and help us send Mrs. Cape off with the appreciation and love she so richly deserves.

Please RSVP to Dr. Mikusa or the MDS Main office by June 15th.

When it comes to the arts, MDS doesn’t just talk about it—we live it. 🎨✨

Did you know our middle school students have the opportunity to choose an arts intensive to study all year long? At MDS, music and visual arts education are an important part of the student experience, giving learners the chance to explore their creativity, develop new skills, and express themselves in meaningful ways.

This year’s annual art show featured an incredible glow room, with every student contributing to the immersive experience. Seeing their creations come to life was a highlight of the year, and their excitement and pride were absolutely contagious.

A huge thank you to our talented educators for inspiring creativity and helping make the magic happen all year long.

Middle School at Morganton Day School is where challenge meets excitement.

Our program is designed to be academically rigorous, but that doesn’t mean it’s all textbooks and tests. We believe learning should be active, engaging, and meaningful at every level—not just in the lower school.
That’s why our middle school students dive into hands-on experiences all year long. From collaborative projects to student-led activities, they take ownership of their learning and turn their academic journey into something far more dynamic than just lessons.
Here, curiosity leads, creativity thrives, and students are empowered to grow into confident, capable learners.

Come see what makes our program so special! Apply today!
