What if your next career is in a school?

When you think about working in education, you probably think of only teachers. But schools need teachers plus all kinds of other workers to help students learn, grow and succeed.

Join us for the Education Career Expo on Thursday, Oct. 29, at Patton High School and discover what a career in education could look like for you or your student.

Middle and high school students: Get a look at career paths that could start now and continue through college.

College students: Learn about pathways into teaching and other careers in schools.

Adults: Explore meaningful career opportunities, including current job openings, whether you’re considering a career change or looking for a way to make a difference in your community.

You’ll hear from leaders in education, learn about different pathways into the field and have the chance to talk one-on-one with people who can help you figure out where you might fit.

🍔 Free cheeseburger meal starts at 4:30 p.m.

🎤 Keynote speaker: Charles Williams, principal of Draughn High School, at 5:30 p.m.

Then, explore information booths featuring specific education career opportunities, programs and current job openings.

Eligibility and contact information:

Players must live in Burke County or attend school in Burke County. Contact the signup coordinators for registration as soon as possible. For other questions, text or call Wesley at Burke County Parks and Recreation at 828-796-4806.

Age groups:

Ages 5–6: Must turn 5 before August 31, 2026, and cannot turn 7 before August 31, 2026.
Ages 7–8: Must turn 7 before August 31, 2026, and cannot turn 9 before August 31, 2026.
Ages 9–10: Must turn 9 before August 31, 2026, and cannot turn 11 before August 31, 2026.
Ages 11–12: Must turn 11 before August 31, 2026, and cannot turn 13 before August 31, 2026.
Ages 13–15: Must turn 13 before August 31, 2026, and cannot turn 16 before August 31, 2026.

💚 Mull Elementary Goes Green! 💚

Mrs. Gregory is our wonderful media coordinator, and her husband, Mr. Gregory, is recovering from a spinal cord injury following an accident. He continues to work hard in rehabilitation each day, and our Mull family wants to surround the Gregory family with love, encouragement, and support during his journey.

September is Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Month, so we are going green to show our support and raise money for the Gregory family. 💚

There is no designated amount students need to give each day. We simply ask that you give with your heart. Whether it is a little or a lot, no amount is too small and no amount is too big. Every gift is a meaningful way to show the Gregory family that their Mull family is behind them. Please send all donations in with your child. The teacher will collect it. You can also visit the school office to make a donation.

Grandparents & Special Visitors Week

Mull will celebrate Grandparents & Special Visitors Week Sept 14-18.

Visitors are invited to eat lunch with their student in the Mull cafeteria and shop at the Mull Book Fair in the media center at designated times. Please see the attached document for times.

RSVP forms will be sent home with students and due to school on Sept 8th. This helps us properly plan for meals and seating.

To make this the most enjoyable experience, we ask visitors to follow this process:

1. All visitors check in at the front desk, sign in, and wear a visitor's badge.

2. Visitors will wait at the entrance of the cafeteria until they see their student. Visitors may join their student in line.

3. Visitors and students will go through the lunch line, gather their food and sit at the tables in the cafeteria to eat. Lunch options can be viewed here. https://burke.nutrislice.com/menu/mull/lunch/2026-09-01

4. Teachers will monitor and assist with traffic flow, therefore, when the class lunch time has ended, visitors are asked to say goodbye, sign out at the front desk and exit the building. OR

5. If visitors want to shop with their student, they are to inform the teacher and take their student to the media center for shopping. Upon completion of shopping, students will be escorted to class and visitors will sign out at the front desk and exit the building.
