GOLD STAR MOTHER’S AND FAMILY DAY

On the last Sunday in September, Gold Star Mother’s and Family Day honors the mothers, fathers, and families of fallen military service members. Also known as National Gold Star Mother’s Day, the day serves as a reminder of the losses suffered by military families.

We are honored to host Gold Star mothers, fathers, and families on Sunday September 27 at One Step Closer Ranch.

One Step Closer Therapeutic Horsemanship Gold Star Mothers and Families "Day-At-The-Ranch" is almost here!

SOS Presidio of Monterey (POM) and One Step Closer (Therapeutic Horsemanship) ranch, Morgan Hill, CA have selected Sunday, September 27th for our Annual "Day-At-The-Ranch". Exclusively honoring the Gold Star Mothers & Families of Fallen Service Members, throughout the Central Coast and NORCAL Bay Areas.

This free event runs from 11:00am to 2:00pm with live music, horseback riding, lots of games and a Pumpkin Patch for the kids! Veteran Rider Groups, Army Color Guard, and more! Local caterer Fire4Hire will generously be providing a delicious BBQ Lunch for everyone to enjoy!
OSC has booked the band Harmony Lane for the day! Blending the essence of Rockin’ 50’s and iconic 70’s classics into a unique instrumental experience for all to enjoy.

Learn about the latest Benefits & Entitlements from local VSO, Department of Veterans Affairs and Gold Star Family Support Coordinators on hand.
Military Gold Star Families, of ALL service branches, are welcomed to attend.

September 1, 2006, acknowledged by the IRS as the start of One Step Closer, a 501c3 nonprofit organization serving children and adults through equine assisted therapeutic activities.

20 years later we have served thousands of individuals, children and adults, veterans and more!

Thank you Santa Clara County Supervisor Silvia Arenas for your advocacy resulting in a generous grant for One Step Closer’s Reading with Romeo & Friends literacy program.

This program is designed to give a helping hand to children for improving reading comprehension in a fun and supportive environment, in partnership with Morgan Hill Boys and Girls Club.
