Science That Sticks! 🎈⚡

Learning comes to life when students get the chance to explore, experiment, and discover for themselves.

Recently, students at our Catalyst ExpandEd Learning Redwood City site became scientists as they investigated the power of static electricity through a hands-on STEAM activity.

After creating artwork with tissue paper "hair," students rubbed balloons on their own hair to generate static electricity. They were amazed as the tissue paper lifted into the air, seemingly floating without being touched!

Activities like these encourage curiosity, critical thinking, and a love of learning while helping students explore real-world science concepts in a fun and engaging way. 🧠

🌟 Messy Experiments, Meaningful Learning

Recently, students at our Catalyst ExpandEd Learning Delta Charter site rolled up their sleeves and became scientists, engineers, and inventors! From creating flying devices to building vehicles from recycled materials, they explored STEM concepts through hands-on projects and teamwork. 🚗✈️

For Water Day, they dove into the classic baking soda and vinegar volcano experiment 🌋, testing different combinations, measuring ingredients, and observing how chemical reactions create pressure. It was a fun way to bring the scientific method to life while encouraging curiosity and discovery.

Every workshop, training, and professional development opportunity has the power to create a ripple effect that reaches far beyond a single classroom.

Through Catalyst Community, child care providers and families in El Dorado and Alpine Counties gain access to valuable learning opportunities that strengthen their skills, confidence, and ability to support children. From child development seminars and CPR/First Aid certification courses to business and entrepreneurship trainings, these programs provide practical tools that participants can immediately apply in their homes, programs, and communities.

💛 Building Bridges, Strengthening Communities

When we say we support families, we mean it in every way possible. Our Catalyst Kids King City Migrant center recently hosted representatives from the Mexican Consulate, creating an opportunity for our migrant families to access important consular services right in their community.

From passport applications to consular ID cards and dual citizenship guidance, families received the personalized support they needed. The participation was outstanding, and seeing families leave with scheduled appointments and helpful information was truly inspiring.

This is what community partnership looks like, bringing resources directly to the families who need them most. Together, we're making a difference. 🤝
