“What? No iPad?!”
Cue the dramatic sigh. The collapse onto the floor. The Oscar-worthy performance of “I’m so bored!”
Welcome to the first topic in Colleen Noll’s MSOSV Parenting Laugh Track: What, No iPad?
Over the next several weeks, we’re taking on one of modern parenting’s biggest challenges: screens.
The goal isn’t to make screens the enemy or become a perfectly screen-free family. It’s about being intentional, setting boundaries, modeling healthy habits, and remembering something children actually need sometimes: boredom.
Because when we resist the urge to immediately fill every quiet moment with a screen, something pretty amazing can happen. Boredom can become creativity, problem-solving, imagination, and deep play. That empty cardboard box might suddenly become a rocket ship, a restaurant, or the beginning of a three-day adventure.
We’ll talk about surviving the “No iPad” meltdown, realistic screen rules, screen-free car rides and restaurants, playdates, rainy days, our own phone habits, and plenty of real stories from Colleen and the MPO6 crew.
Screen off. Imagination on.
Read the first What, No iPad? topic overview and follow along as we tackle this one together, with plenty of humor and zero perfect-parent expectations.
