A standout two-sport athlete at Central Catholic High School, Kye Morgel excelled on both the football field and the basketball court while proudly wearing #23 in each sport.

🏈 Ja'len Johnson

The St. Mary Parish Vault™ proudly recognizes Ja'len Johnson as a member of the Hall of Fame Class of 2026.

A standout defensive back from Central Catholic High School, Johnson established himself as one of the premier football players ever produced by St. Mary Parish. His high school career was highlighted by two First Team Class 1A All-State selections, All-District honors, and a reputation as one of Louisiana's top defensive backs.

His success continued at the next level after signing with the University of Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns, where he appeared in more than 50 NCAA Division I football games and became a key contributor during one of the most successful eras in program history.

Ja'len Johnson's accomplishments represent the very best of St. Mary Parish athletics. His excellence, consistency, and impact at both the high school and collegiate levels have earned him a lasting place in our archive.

Congratulations to Ja'len Johnson, a true St. Mary Parish football great.

Hard work has a way of changing careers.
Ja'cori Johnson's journey is a testament to perseverance, determination, and commitment. Before his senior season at Central Catholic High School, he transformed himself by losing 70 pounds, developing into a key contributor on the Eagles' defense.
His outstanding senior campaign included:

💥 4 Tackles for Loss
🛡️ 2 Sacks
🏃 2 Forced Fumbles
🏈 1 Fumble Recovery
🏈 1 Interception
🔥 1 Defensive Touchdown
🙌 5 Pass Breakups
Johnson earned All-District honors and helped lead Central Catholic to an 8–3 record and a first-round playoff bye. His dedication and performance earned him the opportunity to continue his football career at Louisiana Christian University (LCU).
Today, the St. Mary Parish Vault™ recognizes Ja'cori Johnson with a Football Spotlight for his work ethic, resilience, and accomplishments on and off the field.
