Recent proud piano teacher moments:

Jacob, Senior in high school and future music major, thoroughly surprised me and elicited a "Wow!" as he perfectly played in a very polyphonic section of a Bach prelude from WTC Book I, light staccato notes in one voice while playing smooth legato notes in another voice... all in the same hand!!

My three budding eighth-grade virtuosos:

Chloe sent me a recording of her beautifully played rendition of "Sonatina in A Minor" by Georg Benda. Ruszel, working diligently on Bach's Invention in F Major, and JR improving steadily on the first movement of "Sonatina in G" by Jan Dussek.

My other Senior, Francesca, when the light bulb turned on regarding the Circle of Fifths (Ah! so the keys are related by fifths, no need for mnemonic devices!)

My other Chloe (2nd grader), polishing up and memorizing a fun piece by Wynn-Anne Rossi called "Spaghetti."

Another precocious 2nd grader, Keira, just memorized and is preparing Martha Mier's "The Chocolate Song" for the Harvest (Halloween) Recital next month.

Raiden, my very talented 3rd grader, reading through Melody Bober's "Dinosaur Journey." This is a piece that he's solely learned via online instruction! Kudos!

Seventh-grader Tristan made me gush with pride as he played a hornpipe with Henry Purcell with elegance, phrasing and expression!

It was great to see all my students this week. Keep up the good work!

I got the results of the CM exam and I'm happy to report that all of my students who took the exam passed! In addition, my students, Vivienne Lu, Saul Richardson, and Isabelle Szeto received Branch honors! Congratulations!
