Over fall break, Mr. Hawkins, & Mrs. Arrasmith (foreign language department) had the opportunity to co-present a workshop on the first day of the Kentucky World Language Association (KWLA) Conference! 🎤

There is something powerful about educators learning from one another and working together to make a difference for students!

Congratulations to our very own Spanish teacher, Haley Arrasmith! This is an AMAZING recognition!

Congratulations to Haley Arrasmith! Haley teaches Spanish at Rowan County High School. She is the 2026 recipient of the KWLA Rising Star Award for teachers already demonstrating excellence during their first five years in the classroom.

Help us honor her in person at the KWLA Fall Conference, October 9-10 in Louisville, KY. On-site registration will be open at 11:00am on Friday and 7:30am on Saturday at the Holiday Inn Louisville East-Hurstbourne, 1325 S Hurstbourne Pkwy.

A special thanks to Klett World Languages for sponsoring the 2026 KWLA Awards and ensuring that outstanding Kentucky educators receive the recognition they deserve.

Fall Break is almost here! RCSHS will have minimal office hours October 5–9, and school will resume on Tuesday, October 13.

Our office staff will be in and out with varying schedules during the break, so please call the school office before stopping by!

We hope our students, staff, and families enjoy a relaxing fall break filled with rest, fun, and time to recharge! 🧡💚

🎉 Congratulations, Logan! 🎉

Rowan County Senior High School is proud to celebrate Logan Alsup on being named a Commended Student in the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program! 🏆📚

Logan is among approximately 34,000 students nationwide being recognized for their outstanding academic promise. This prestigious recognition places him among the top students who entered the 2027 National Merit Scholarship competition based on their performance on the 2025 PSAT/NMSQT.

Congratulations, Logan! Keep pursuing excellence and making the Viking family proud! ⚓️

Dr. Murphy's Aviation 1 students are studying early aviation innovations in history; today his students launched their tissue paper hot air ballons. The students constructed ballons from tissue paper to investigate how differences in density of air produced lift for pioneering aviators. 💚

The CTE aviation program focuses on preparing students for a future in the aviation field such as drone pilot, aviation mechanic, airport management or fixed wing aviation careers. 🎈🎈
