Learning at RCSHS doesn’t always happen from the front of the classroom—and that’s exactly what makes Mrs. Stafford’s classes so special!

🎥 Kolin is teaching Ryder how to edit videos for The Viking Voices Podcast, giving students the opportunity to teach one another authentic, real-world media and technology skills.

🩰 Even while wearing a boot, Annamarie is teaching her peers Beginning Ballet in Advanced Stage Class! Her willingness to share her expertise, lead her classmates, and keep learning is what student leadership looks like in action.

These moments are more than assignments. They are opportunities for students to lead, collaborate, communicate, create, and learn from one another—skills that extend far beyond the classroom.

🌟 INTENTIONAL LEADERSHIP IN ACTION! 🌟

This week, we are shining the spotlight on Brianna Greenhill and the incredible work she is doing with her Senior Crew through Leader in Me! 🚢💚

Mrs. Greenhill didn’t simply deliver a Leader in Me lesson—she took it deeper. As students reflected on the Habits, she challenged them to look beyond the surface and connect the Habits to their own lives, choices, relationships, goals, and experiences.

The result? Real conversations. Real reflection. Real-world application.

That is what intentional implementation of Leader in Me looks like at Rowan County Senior High School. It is not about simply checking a box or completing a lesson. It is about creating opportunities for students to know themselves, understand others, make purposeful choices, and apply the Habits to the world beyond our classroom walls.

👏 Brianna, thank you for being intentional. Thank you for going deeper. Thank you for creating a CREW where students feel comfortable reflecting, discussing, and growing.

Our high school students are LOVING their new ID badges this year! Not only do they look official, but they’re helping us make the cafeteria line faster, smoother, and more efficient. 🙌

And let’s be honest… just like any good job or workplace, there’s something pretty cool about having your own ID badge! 😎 Our students are learning that responsibility, professionalism, and being part of a team are all part of the Viking experience.

History isn’t just about remembering dates and events—it’s about asking questions, sharing ideas, making connections, and understanding the world we live in today!

Today, Kylie Rayburn’s U.S. History classes were bringing history to life through meaningful discussion, collaboration, critical thinking, and hands-on learning. Students were actively exploring the people, events, and ideas that shaped our nation while engaging with one another and thinking deeply about the past.

We love seeing our Vikings learning beyond the textbook and discovering that history truly comes alive when students are at the center of the learning! 🧠💬🤝

Today, in CREW time, our high school students took time to reflect on what it means to be a Valiant Viking! ⚔️💚

Students reviewed and discussed the five competencies that define our Profile of a Learner:

🌎 Global Citizen – Making a positive impact in our world
🤝 Active Collaborator – Working together to achieve success
📚 Lifelong Learner – Continuously growing, learning, and improving
💬 Effective Communicator – Sharing ideas clearly and respectfully
🧠 Critical Thinker – Asking questions, analyzing, and making thoughtful decisions

Our Chemistry students kicked off the year by getting hands-on with lab safety protocols and practicing the teamwork skills they’ll need to be successful in the lab and beyond!

From learning how to work safely to collaborating with their classmates, our Vikings are already building the skills that will make this a fantastic year of discovery and learning. 🔬💚

Our high school students spent the week building relationships, strengthening teamwork, having some fun, and developing the skills that help us grow together. Today, they celebrated with a little something sweet during CREW time! 🍦
