We had a great evening yesterday with leaders from the UK College of Medicine Morehead campus.

Dr. Rebecca Todd, alongside the Rural Physician Leadership Program (RPLP) Department Administrator, KaSandra Hanshaw and current UK medical students visited campus to present the various pathways for entry into UK’s medical school program. Their discussion focused on helping students plan for their future applications to medical school and preparing themselves to be competitive among other applicants.

The presentation was followed by hands-on simulations that our aspiring medical students will face in their own careers. Learning to suture, practice using laparoscopic surgical tools, and tying suture knots were great ways for our students to try their hand at realistic tasks of doctors. Dr. Todd also emphasized the importance of utilizing strong people skills and bedside manner in medical practice.

Our future medical professionals are better equipped for success after this workshop. We appreciate the collaborative approach by the UK College of Medicine’s Morehead campus and can’t wait to see our students thrive in their work.

This will be a strong partnership to open doors, connections, new skills, and stronger resumes for our students. If you know a student who would benefit from these opportunities, Craft Academy is the perfect place for them! Apply now to be

💚💛 Music on the Green: Fall Festival Kickoff! 💛💚

On October 8, Hazel Green Academy came alive with music, laughter, and community spirit as we kicked off our fall Music on the Green series! As part of the Hazel Green Academy Revitalization Project, the event brought together students, alumni, families, and community members for live music and traditional festival games, including ring toss, pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey, and more!

🎶 Special thanks to the West Liberty Mountain Boys for an outstanding performance and Jessica Begley for a wonderful opening act!

We are especially proud of the Craft Academy for leading the HGA Revitalization Project (Adison Newman, Caleb Riddle, Gavin Slone, Chloe Walker, and Dr. Rachel Rogers). Through experiential learning, students are developing leadership skills while helping preserve the Academy’s history and strengthen community connections.

Thank you to the students representing CRIT, RGL, ECIP, Envirothon, VOICE, and FTC for supporting the festivities!
We also extend our gratitude to Mr. Roy Rogers, Mrs. Rita Rogers, the Friends of Hazel Green Academy, HGA alumni, and our community supporters. Special thanks to Craft Academy staff Jennifer Shaw, and DJ Modaff for their dedication.
