We had a blast at the Welcome Back Picnic last Tuesday!

Students had the opportunity to explore the clubs that make up the Agriculture Department, enjoy a meal prepared by our faculty and staff, and end the night with the inaugural Faculty vs. Student Games.

Congratulations to the student teams taking ALL THREE spots on the winner's podium!! These students won a chance to pie the faculty/staff member of their choice!

Forage production is a critical part of Animal Agriculture and which is a major contributor to the economy in Eastern KY. This week (June 14 - 20) is National Forage Week. Help the American Forage & Grassland council and KY Forage & Grassland Council spread the word about this important crop.

This week, a group of outstanding high school students had the opportunity to participate in the Morehead State University Agriculture KJLE East Student Internship Experience at the Derrickson Agricultural Complex.

Please join us in recognizing:

⭐ Jordyn Carlson, Fleming County High School
⭐ Mackenzie Kidd, Rowan County Senior High School
⭐ Ella Craig, Rowan County Senior High School
⭐ Jaynah Murphy, Vinton County High School
⭐️ Aubree Wheeling, Rowan County Senior High School

Over the course of two days, these students assisted with the KJLE East, working alongside event staff, agriculture professionals, university faculty, and exhibitors. Their responsibilities included event setup, livestock coordination, exhibitor support, and a variety of behind-the-scenes tasks that help make a large-scale livestock event successful.

We are incredibly proud of the professionalism, work ethic, and positive attitudes demonstrated by these students throughout the event. They represented their schools and communities well while gaining valuable hands-on experience in the agriculture industry.

Experiences like these help students develop leadership skills, build industry connections, and explore future careers in agriculture.

We loved welcoming students from Lawrence County High School Agriculture to Morehead State University before summer break officially began!

Students had the opportunity to tour our farm facilities, learn more about the agriculture programs offered at MSU, and see firsthand the many career pathways available within the agriculture industry. Experiences like these help students connect classroom learning to real-world opportunities while exploring what their future in agriculture could look like.

As we look ahead to the upcoming school year, we would love to host more agriculture programs from across the region for farm tours and campus visits. If you are an agriculture teacher interested in bringing your students to visit Morehead State University Agriculture, reach out to us to start planning your trip!
