💜🦚 Rodburn MVP Spotlight: Ms. Tessa Gilliam! 🦚💜

Today, we are celebrating Ms. Tessa Gilliam and the incredible difference she makes in the lives of her students and families! 🌟

Ms. Tessa’s nomination highlighted her deeply caring heart, her willingness to give extra time and love, and the lasting impact she has on the children she serves. Whether she is inspiring a former student, showing compassion during a difficult moment, or going out of her way to help a child in need, Ms. Tessa reminds us what it truly means to make a difference. 💜

One of the most special things about Ms. Tessa is that her kindness reaches beyond the classroom. She creates meaningful connections with students and shows them that they are valued, supported, and cared for. Those moments of compassion may seem small, but they can leave a lasting impression on a child’s heart. 🥰

☕️📖 Poetry Café in 4th Grade! 🎤✨

Today our 4th graders celebrated all they have learned during our EL Education Unit 1 Module on Poetry with a special Poetry Café!

Throughout this unit, students explored what inspires poets to write and discovered that inspiration can come from people, places, memories, feelings, nature, experiences, and so much more.

To wrap up our unit, students became poets themselves! They wrote their own original poems inspired by something meaningful to them and proudly shared their work with their classmates at our Poetry Café.

It was so special to see our students find their voices, share their creativity, and celebrate one another as writers. We are so proud of our 4th grade poets!

Our kindergarteners had some very special teachers today—our 4th graders! 💙

Fourth-grade students used what they have been learning about marbles during their Force and Motion unit to teach kindergarteners how to play marbles. This was the perfect connection to kindergarten’s study of toys and play from long ago, giving our youngest learners a chance to experience a game children enjoyed generations ago.

We loved seeing our older students share their knowledge, model the game, and help our kindergarteners learn through play. What a wonderful example of learning across grade levels! 🔵✨

Our kindergarteners had a special visit from Mrs. Ratliff as they continued learning about toys from long ago! 🧸🪡 Mrs. Ratliff taught students about the kinds of toys children played with in the past and how families often used materials they already had to create their own toys.

Students then got to experience history firsthand by making their very own homemade rag dolls! They loved learning how something as simple as fabric could be turned into a special toy. What a fun, hands-on way to connect our learning about toys and play from long ago to the present! ❤️

🧸🎲 Kindergarteners Stepped Back in Time Today! 🎲🧸

Our kindergarteners had some very special visitors who helped bring our learning about toys and play from long ago to life! Students had the opportunity to learn about and play games that children enjoyed in the past, including jacks, pick-up sticks, Barrel of Monkeys, Four Square, and the Handkerchief Game.

It was so much fun watching our kiddos discover that you don’t need technology or fancy toys to have a great time! 💛 Through hands-on play, they were able to compare games from long ago to the games we play today while making some wonderful memories of their own!
