Morehead Little Blessings will be open regular time Monday 02/02/26. The parking lot is still very icey, be careful entering and exiting. We do ask that you use your own discretion whether to bring your child or not. Our staff is excited to see all our amazing students!

Freezing Temperatures: Stay Safe, Morehead!

As temps drop, take a few simple steps to protect your home, pets, and pipes:

Prevent Frozen Pipes
• Drip faucets during extreme cold
• Open cabinet doors to allow warm air to circulate
• Insulate exposed pipes
• Know where your main shut-off valve is located

Bring Pets Inside
• Pets should be indoors during freezing temps
• If animals must be outside, ensure insulated shelter, dry bedding, and unfrozen water
• Remember: if it’s too cold for you, it’s too cold for them

Around the Home
• Check heating sources and use space heaters safely
• Never use grills or generators indoors
• Keep emergency supplies on hand (flashlights, batteries, blankets)

Check on Neighbors
• Especially elderly neighbors or those with medical needs

Fire Safety
• Keep space heaters at least 3 feet from anything flammable
• Never leave candles unattended
• Test smoke and carbon monoxide detectors

Outdoor Awareness
• Watch for icy sidewalks and steps
• Use salt or sand for traction
• Clear snow and ice from vents. exhaust pipes and vehicle roofs

Water & Utilities
•Remove outdoor hoses and protect exterior faucets with covers
• Let a slow drip run overnight from inside faucets during extreme cold
• Report water main breaks or outages promptly

Stay Informed
• Monitor local weather updates
• Follow City of Morehead pages for alerts and closures

Cold temps are tough, but a little preparation goes a long way. Stay safe and warm, Morehead!

Monday Afternoon Weather Update

Road conditions across the county have not improved significantly throughout the day due to continued snow and sustained cold temperatures. With slick roadways and refreezing expected overnight, county offices will be closed Tuesday.

Ice remains present on many roads, and travel conditions remain hazardous. We are asking that if you are able to stay home, please do so to help keep roads clear for road crews and first responders.
