💙 Great Conversations. Stronger Connections. An Exciting Future for Moravia! 🐾

What a wonderful afternoon on Wednesday at the Powers Library! Dr. Leahey, Superintendent of Schools, had the opportunity to meet with members of the Moravia community, share ideas, answer questions, and talk about the exciting things happening across our district.

From our school initiatives and priorities for the upcoming year to the opportunities ahead for our students, it was a great conversation about where we are today and, most importantly, where we’re headed together.

It was also a wonderful chance for Dr. Leahey to meet several community members and continue building the relationships that are so important to the success of our schools. When our school and community come together, great things happen! 💙

A huge THANK YOU to the Powers Library and their staff for being such gracious hosts and providing such a welcoming space for our conversation. We truly appreciate your partnership and support!

🎉 Some of our Moravia students had an unforgettable summer adventure at The Salvation Army Long Point Camp in Penn Yan this July! 🏕️💦

The best part? It was completely FREE for students ages 6–12! From swimming and camping to new friendships and nonstop fun, they made memories to last a lifetime. ☀️🔥🌲

A huge thank you to The Salvation Army for this amazing opportunity and our incredible Rotary Club for supporting our campers with duffel bags and “canteen” funds to make the experience even more fun! 🙌🎒🍭

Moravia Central School District is looking to partner with New York State-regulated child care providers to expand high-quality Universal Prekindergarten (UPK) opportunities for the 2026-2027 school year!

If you are a licensed child care provider serving 4-year-old children and are interested in collaborating with Moravia CSD, we'd love to hear from you.
Together, we can invest in our youngest learners and provide exceptional early learning experiences that help children thrive from the very beginning.

Registration is open, and the fall season is right around the corner!

Fall Sports Registration is still open for all 7th-12th graders.

Practices start on August 24th, except for Varsity Football, which starts on August 17th.

📚☀️ What a fantastic way to wrap up the week at Millard Fillmore Elementary!

On a beautiful sunny afternoon, Principal Love and Mrs. Westover, our amazing librarian, welcomed students to our very first Story Walk at the primary playground. Families enjoyed reading the featured story together, cooling off with delicious popsicles, and spending time playing on the playground.

The Story Walk is a wonderful new way to encourage a love of reading while getting outside and enjoying our school community. We hope you'll stop by to read the featured story with your family!

A huge thank you to the Moravia APT for generously providing the popsicles and to Principal Love and Mrs. Westover for bringing this exciting new literacy experience to life at Millard Fillmore Elementary. Your creativity and dedication are helping make reading an adventure for our youngest learners!

We're seeking a visionary, collaborative, and detail-oriented School Business Official to lead the district's financial and business operations. This full-time, 12-month position reports directly to the Superintendent and plays a vital role in supporting the success of our students, staff, and community.

What You'll Do:
💼 Lead the development and management of the district's annual budget.
📊 Oversee payroll, purchasing, accounts payable/receivable, financial reporting, and risk management.
🤝 Collaborate with district leadership and the Board of Education to align financial resources with educational priorities.
✅ Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations while maintaining the highest standards of fiscal responsibility and transparency.
We're Looking For:
✔️ A collaborative leader with experience in school or public-sector finance.
✔️ Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
✔️ Proficiency with financial software, Excel, and state reporting systems.
✔️ New York State School Business Leader (SBL) or School Business Administrator (SBA) certification, or eligibility for Civil Service appointment.
