DYK how "Bells of Saint Mary's" became the alma mater?

In 1924, SMC football played at USC and it was tradition that the band play the opponent's fight song. Because their band director didn't know ours, the USC band played "Bells of Saint Mary's".

It stuck and we beat USC 14-10.
