We kicked off the new academic year at Minnesota State Moorhead with inspiring words from President Downs and Provost Lee, outlining the vision for the upcoming year. The address was followed by an employee lunch where colleagues reconnected and shared ideas for the months ahead. The energy on campus is unmatched as we prepare to welcome our students back.

At Moorhead, experiential learning is vital. Hands-on work alongside faculty and community partners builds skills students carry into their careers.

"We want every student to take part in transformational experiential learning," says Associate Director of Experiential Learning and Assessment Chris Franz. "Higher education and industries can learn from each other. Students have to navigate both."

Dragons become sought-after professionals who look inward, out into their communities, across the world, and maybe even to the cosmos.

Congratulations to Minnesota State Moorhead's School Psychology program on earning full accreditation from the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP)!

MSUM School Psychology received the maximum seven-year accreditation term effective August 1, 2026, through August 1, 2033. The accreditation affirms that the program meets rigorous national standards for training school psychologists and prepares graduates to meet the needs of students, families, and schools.

Travel writer and Moorhead alum Alicia Underlee Nelson has traveled the world, writing for magazines like "Lonely Planet," "Conde Nast Traveler," "Food Network," and "Fodors."

Despite her world adventures, she always comes back to her home state. On August 1, Alicia published her book "100 Things To Do in North Dakota Before You Die," in which she shares a list of must-sees and hidden gems.
