Today is Gold Star Mother's and Family Day. On the last Sunday in September, we honor the mothers, fathers, and families of fallen military service members. Also known as National Gold Star Mother's Day, the day serves as a reminder of the losses suffered by military families.

What an amazing time we had at tonight's Fargo Moorhead Student Veterans 9/11 Memorial 5K. We appreciate everyone who ran, walked, volunteered and cheered!

Twenty-five years later, we remember.
Today, on the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, we pause to honor the 2,977 lives lost and reflect on the courage, sacrifice, and resilience demonstrated in the face of tragedy.
We remember the victims, the families forever changed, the first responders who answered the call, and the service members who stepped forward in the years that followed.
At Minnesota State Moorhead, we join communities across the nation in honoring their memory and recognizing the enduring spirit of service, unity, and compassion that emerged during one of our country's most difficult days.
We remember. We honor. We will never forget.

Way to represent Minnesota State Moorhead, Danelle!

This Monday, we recognize Danelle Wolnik. Danelle is an Army National Guard spouse of 15 years and a proud mother of three. For 13 of those years, they were a dual-military family, balancing their children’s activities with drill weekends, annual training, TDYs, and the demands of everyday life. As a family, they deeply value their time together, whether they are traveling the country or spending their summers at the lake with family and friends.
Danelle’s 24 years of service, combined with her perspective as a military spouse and a passion for supporting others, led naturally to her role as the Assistant Veterans Resource Outreach Director at Minnesota State University Moorhead. Her transition from the North Dakota Army National Guard to the Dragon community reflects MSUM’s mission of helping veterans find their "new normal." Through authentic connections and targeted outreach, their team pairs military-connected students with meaningful resources, ensuring they feel understood, supported, and empowered to achieve their future goals. 💪💙
