Happy Mole Day!!

It's – celebrating the mole in chemistry which makes it easier to talk about the huge numbers of atoms, molecules or ions that participate in chemical reactions (nothing to do with the burrowing mammals). More mole material here: https://www.compoundchem.com/2014/10/23/moleday/

On Tuesday, December 7, almost 80 students from several chemistry (CHEM 375 - Team-based Chemistry Research and CHEM 275 - Research-based General Chemistry Lab A.K.A. “virus hunters"), biochemistry (BCBT 360 - Team-based Biochemistry and Biotechnology Research) and biology (BIOL 341L - Genetics lab) classes presented their work from this semester’s class research projects.
These investigations were led by 4 faculty, two from the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry (Dr. Michelle Tigges and Dr. Gary Edvenson) and two from the Bioscience department (Dr. Andrew Mazz Marry and Dr. Sara Anderson).
Images below include:
Vanessa Booth and Dr. Michelle Tigges discuss a CHEM 275 poster on bacteriophages.
Iver Masterson, a triple major in chemistry, chemistry education and life science education presents his CHEM 375 research on photolysis of water to Dr. Andrew Mazz Marry.
International Student Lola Siboud presents CHEM 375 work.
Mikayla Bolduc, Kristina Korhonen, Syntishe Nsango, and Lara Al Selim discuss bacteriophage resistance in M. foliorum, their BCBT 360 research project.
Dr. Sara Anderson and Isaac Heiser discuss his genetics (BIOL 341L) poster.
