CALL FOR PROPOSALS

Red River Women’s Studies Conference 2026

**THEME: Unfinished Revolutions: Feminism, Art and the Legacies of Resistance

The 2026 Red River Women's Studies Conference (RRWSC) invites session proposals from women’s and gender studies related topics and social justice issues. The RRWSC is being held on Friday, March 27, 2026 at Minnesota State University Moorhead (MSUM), and the theme is "Unfinished Revolutions: Feminism, Art, and the Legacies of Resistance."

The Red River Women’s Studies Conference is hosted yearly by a collective of colleges and universities in the Red River Valley that support women’s and gender studies initiatives across all disciplines. This year will focus on themes of art and resistance across generations, emphasizing the enduring legacies of social movements as initiated, documented and shared through diverse forms of art and visual culture. We invite scholars, artists, and activists to submit proposals for papers, complete panels, or roundtable discussions on this theme, or themes related to women’s and gender studies. In focusing on art, we aim to highlight its potential as an active site of resistance, through creating visibility, encouraging participation and social engagement, and preserving crucial knowledge across generations. In joining together, we seek to investigate creative methods and movement-building strategies across decades and look at how past acts of dissent inform and inspire us to address the challenges we currently face in our society.

Featured speakers include artists Rachel Breen, Anna Johnson, Delia Touché and Sandra Menefee Taylor.

The purpose of the RRWSC is to provide faculty, students, and the community with the opportunity to share their experiences and expertise, engage in dynamic conversations, and network with colleagues from across the Red River Valley to build a robust and inclusive community of support.

** Proposals are due March 1st 2026 (no more than 300 words)
