Week 1 of our Geoarchaeology Field School is in the books and what a roller coaster it's been! First stop was a special site tour of Cahokia Mounds State Park, a UNESCO world heritage site. Next, we began geophysical survey for Dr. Sarah Baires (ISAS) and MSUM alumni Dr. Melissa Baltus Zych. We hit a minor snag when our instrument seemingly disintegrated but with kindness from friends and community we're back on track. On our way to working with MSUM alumni Dr. Jennifer Bengston in Cape Gieradeau, we're enjoying a road trip full of archaeological and historically significant sites along the Mississippi River. Stay posted for more updates!
