Door knocking has been a true highlight for me during this school board campaign. Having my wife and sister-in-law helping is a huge boost too!

I am constantly amazed by our Moorhead community. So many people are willing to answer the door when I knock, and engage in a conversation about our schools. The smiles and stories of their successful Spuds are heartwarming. For some, their students may be struggling and are able to share their needs from the school. In each case, the time together encourages me to work hard for our schools.

Can you help me? Would you be willing to call or stop by a few neighbors and friends to encourage them to vote for me? Your trusted voice means so much as many people are still undecided on who to vote for. Thank you for continuing to support me!!

If elected to serve on the school board, I will work to keep students first by focusing on the support systems around them. My top priorities would be:
1. Develop a strategy to become the school district-of-choice to recruit and retain talented teachers and staff
2. Prepare for continued population growth in order to minimize crowding in schools
3. Maximize the potential of Career Academy by promoting career pathways and opportunities to partner with the business community

Question of the day: Why am I running?

What motivates me to run for school board is my passion to see all students get a great education and do what I can to support them. I have no particular issues with how our district is currently operating and am not motivated by political movements. My goal is to unite our community--I will be an unwavering advocate for our school district and will use my skills to help the district continue our positive momentum and solve problems as they arise.

My vision for Moorhead Area Public Schools is to be a safe place where all students are welcomed, taught, and encouraged to achieve their highest potential. The Career Academy will serve as a regional focal point, partnering with the local business community and helping students develop skills for life-long careers.

Question of the day: What experiences have prepared me for this position?

My education in industrial engineering and work experiences have trained me to see things from a big picture, system level while at the same time appreciating the detailed activities that contribute to the best outcomes. As a result, I have strong analytical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills. My children have been part of six schools within the district. I began serving the district as a volunteer in 2014 with a master facilities task force to help decide how to respond to the tremendous growth in our district. I continued in groups focused on the new middle school, curriculum development, deciding to build a new high school, career academy pathways, and strategic planning for the district. In 2019, I led the “Vote Yes” committee to pass the bond referendum to build our new high school (currently in construction). These experiences have allowed me to build relationships with teachers, administration, and other community members and have fueled my passion for Moorhead Schools.
