Our school menus comply with the United States Department of Agriculture and School Meal Initiative regulations in that they:
•Provide 1/3 Recommended Daily Allowances for calories, protein, iron, calcium and vitamins A&C based on appropriate ages
•Contain 35% or less calories from fat
•Contain 10% or less calories from saturated fat
•Monitor trans fats, sodium, sugar and cholesterol levels to keep as low as possible
In addition:
•Milk choices are limited to 1% low fat or skim only.
•Fresh fruits & vegetables are offered daily at breakfast and lunch. We also utilize frozen and low sodium canned vegetables.
•Dark green, orange and deep yellow veggies are served most days if not everyday.
•Whole grains offered consist of hamburger buns, hot dog buns, sliced bread and yeast rolls.
•Lastly, legumes are served once per week to boost fiber intake. What you may not know:
•Almost all food is prepared from scratch, daily, in each school cafeteria.
•Ground beef, turkey and pork roasts and low fat cheeses are commodity items used in daily food preparation.

Pizza is made with low fat cheese, reduced fat pepperoni and turkey sausage
Corn Dogs are made with reduced fat turkey and all cheese used is reduced fat. Reduced fat condiments like mayonnaise and Italian dressing are served; we even make our own ranch dressing from scratch using reduced fat mayonnaise and nonfat milk.
•We do not fry foods in any of our schools and haven’t in several years.
•Water is offered daily in all schools.
