I took a photo of the healers that keep everyone healthy and able to keep going in addition to tending to injuries during the Greatest Camp on Earth. Everyone give a lot of themself trying to help others. I am honored to learn something from each of them as they do different things from se fuku jutsu, massage and other arts and I contribute with Koho Shiatsu Igaku. Unfortunately I couldn’t find Katie at the time of the picture.

I just wanted to say thank you to the Greatest Camp on Earth for having me out this year for my 5 th year of teaching Goshin Budo Jujutsu and working shiatsu in the healing room. I took my daughters this year who did great training about 7 hours a day. They kept commenting that it is the greatest camp on Earth. Judo, BJJ and Japanese Jujutsu…..what could be better? I’m guessing there were around 300 people from 28 states

I want to say thank you to greatestcamp.com and the “Greatest Camp on Earth” for having me out to teach Goshin Budo Jujutsu again this year and work shiatsu in the healing room. Thanks to my students Luke Sullivan and Jeff Cohen for helping me teach. As always there are lots of amazing judoka and instructors. It truly is the greatest camp on Earth with teachers like Sensei’s Reser, Roethke and Ryan. A great showing as usual with people coming from 26 states and instructors teaching Judo, Japanese Jujutsu, weapons and weapon defense as well as BJJ. This years main headliner is Jeon Ki Young who is a 3 time world judo champion, winner of the Olympic Gold metal in Judo and 6 time Judo world games champion. He was amazing.

I have been training for 38 years between Japanese Jujutsu and Judo. For the past 27 months, I’ve been training at a great BJJ school because I wanted to elevate my ground game. I’m glad to be part of Mooresville BJJ and coaching kids. They have been posting videos of live rolling during open mat and other times and two of our brown belt coaches do commenting on the roll, what they see, what was missed and suggestions about the roll. I think it’s a great tool for anyone who does or wants to do BJJ. Please feel free to check out the video and if you like it, please subscribe to the channel. They will be putting out more content soon but there are several videos to check out. Here’s one.

Being a police officer is a difficult job. Especially in today’s environment where so many people seem to be against you and cameras are everywhere. You may be perfectly legal in what you do but it may be easier for your department to fire you to avoid bad press. You could have law suits, social media and the TV media all come after you for something you did in good faith or out of fear for your life.
The point of some of these videos is to show how you can use the concepts of Jujutsu and adapt them. I have slightly adjusted the techniques we do in Goshin Budo Jujutsu, to take strikes out (unless they are needed) because they don’t look good on camera and rarely accomplish the desired affect. Pain compliance doesn’t look bad on camera and doesn’t do permanent damage in most cases. For law enforcement, we should try to use pain compliance and verbal commands to get to effect an arrest with as little physical force as possible while trying to not injure the person being arrested as well as protecting the police officer. If needed, there are ways to dial up the pain compliance if the person is not obeying your commands. Many Law enforcement officers lack the proper martial arts training and resort to sheer or blunt force, less than lethal or lethal force as a basic human survival instinct. With the proper tools, you can keep officers and arrestees safer.
