💙 A huge THANK YOU to the Morgan County Early Learning Coalition and the Empower to Educate Grant from United Way for an amazing Early Childhood Educator Night at the Centerbrook Drive-In! What a fun evening spent celebrating the incredible educators who dedicate their hearts to young children every single day.

Watching Toy Story 5 together was more than just a fun night out, it was a powerful reminder of something we see every day in early childhood education.

The movie beautifully highlights the importance of protecting childhood from too much screen time. While technology certainly has its place, nothing can replace the magic of children building forts, creating imaginary worlds, solving problems together, laughing with friends, and learning through play. Those moments of pretend play, creativity, and face-to-face connection are where some of the most important learning happens.

As early childhood educators, we know that play isn't "just playing." It's how children develop language, social skills, emotional regulation, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning.

Here's to putting down the screens a little more often, picking up the toys, and letting kids be kids. ❤️

Thank you again to everyone who joined us for such a memorable evening. We can't wait to see you at our next Morgan County Early Learning Coalition event!

The first five years matter. That's exactly why Indiana should be investing in educated educators, not lowering expectations for them.

Stay tuned for ways you can learn more and help shape the proposed child care rules and regulations being considered in Indiana. Your voice matters. 💙

Why You Won't See Swings, Bouncers, and Other "Container" Devices in Our Infant Classroom

One of the first things families notice when they visit GGLC is that our infants spend most of their day on the floor exploring, moving, and interacting with their environment.

You won't see our babies spending long periods of time in swings, bouncers, seats, walkers, or other "container" devices.

Why?

Because babies learn through movement.

From the moment they are born, infants are building important brain connections every time they:
✨ Reach for a toy
✨ Roll over
✨ Push up during tummy time
✨ Scoot across the floor
✨ Crawl toward something that catches their attention

When babies have the freedom to move, they develop:
💙 Stronger muscles and coordination
💙 Better balance and body awareness
💙 Improved problem-solving skills
💙 Greater confidence and independence
💙 Critical brain connections that support future learning

But creating an environment that supports infant development doesn't happen by accident.

High-quality infant classrooms need teachers who understand:
👶 How infants develop physically, socially, emotionally, and cognitively
👶 How to recognize developmental milestones
👶 How to create experiences that encourage exploration and learning
👶 How to respond to an infant's cues and build secure attachments
👶 How everyday interactions—from feeding and diapering to tummy time and play—become opportunities for learning

At GGLC, our infant teachers aren't simply supervising babies. They are educators who understand that the first year of life lays the foundation for everything that comes next.

Every song sung, every conversation shared, every tummy time experience, and every opportunity to move freely is helping build a child's brain.

Because high-quality infant care is about much more than keeping babies safe, it's about helping them thrive.

At GGLC, our infant program is led by educators who understand child development and are committed to providing experiences that support each child's growth from the very beginning.

🌱 Learning begins at birth.

One of the most meaningful parts of our Summer Bloom Challenge has been watching families take time to recognize the amazing educators who care for their children each day.
Over the past week, our staff have been surprised with Sunshine Notes filled with kind words, encouragement, and appreciation from families. 💛

The notes shared things like:

☀️ Thank you for helping our family bloom.
☀️ Thank you for taking extra time with my child.
☀️ Thank you for your patience, kindness, and support.
☀️ Thank you for creating a safe and welcoming environment.
☀️ Thank you for helping children grow and learn.

As childcare professionals, we pour our hearts into this work. The days can be busy, challenging, and exhausting, but a simple note of appreciation can completely brighten someone's day.

To our GGLC families: THANK YOU. Your words matter. Your support matters. And the love you have shown our staff this week has meant more than you know.

We are incredibly grateful to partner with families who value the work of early childhood educators and who help us create a culture of kindness, encouragement, and appreciation.

✨ BIG NEWS IS COMING TO GGLC! ✨

For years, we've worked to provide high-quality early care and education while supporting the hardworking families who trust us with their children each day.

We've also heard the same concern from families over and over again:

💬 "Childcare is one of our biggest monthly expenses."

So we've been working on something new.

Something that could bring local businesses, working families, and quality childcare together in a way that benefits everyone.

We're not quite ready to share all the details, but we believe this could be a game changer for some of our GGLC families and the employers who support them.

Stay tuned next week as we introduce a new initiative designed to strengthen families, support local businesses, and help make quality childcare more accessible.

We can't wait to share it with you! ❤️

👀 Any guesses what we're working on? Drop them in the comments! ⬇️

Child care is one of the few industries where everyone agrees there is a crisis, yet we continue to look for solutions that cost nothing.

Lowering standards doesn't make child care affordable. It makes quality harder to achieve.

The answer is not more children per teacher. The answer is not less oversight. The answer is not asking educators and providers to carry an even heavier burden.

The answer is investment.

Indiana has a choice: build a stronger early childhood system or weaken it in the name of affordability. Our children will live with the consequences of that decision long after today's headlines are forgotten.

https://www.wthr.com/article/news/local/indiana-governor-mike-braun-announces-reforms-aimed-at-improving-childcare-affordability/531-c6c2e983-a354-46ea-bce9-dae4bb919640?utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook_WTHR-TV&fbclid=IwdGRjcASOZ_FjbGNrBI5n4mV4dG4DYWVtAjExAHNydGMGYXBwX2lkDDM1MDY4NTUzMTcyOAABHjy_Km0NkdAewIhujTO6_t7AVakMThiaDmnTo0kZCMqcrVPOPEUykM_4PX1v_aem_vUKDz37FZz62Oh7B1MqXcw

The plans are focused on reducing "administrative burdens" for childcare providers to lower costs and provide flexibility, the governor's office said.

🎓❤️ GGLC 2026 Pre-K Graduation Class! ❤️🎓

This class holds a very special place in our hearts because they are the FIRST group of children who have been with us since they were babies. We opened our doors almost 5 years ago this November, and watching these little ones grow from infants into kindergarteners has been such an incredible journey. ❤️

Thank you to our amazing families for trusting us with the early care and education of your children. Thank you for partnering with us through family events, parent-teacher conferences, daily conversations, and all of the moments in between. It truly takes a village, and we are so thankful to be part of yours.

A huge thank you to Mrs. Taylor, our licensed Pre-K teacher and this year’s Morgan County Early Educator of the Year, for her hard work, patience, love, and dedication in preparing this class for kindergarten both socially-emotionally and academically. Your impact on these children will last far beyond the classroom walls. ❤️

Thank you as well to Ms. Avery and Mrs. Janice for the love, encouragement, extra helping hands, and support you poured into this class throughout the year. Your kindness, flexibility, and care helped create a classroom environment where these children felt safe, confident, and loved every single day. ❤️

To our graduates: We are so proud of you and cannot wait to see all of the amazing things you will do. Always remember - You can do BIG things and you are destined to be GREAT! Once a GGLC kiddo, always a GGLC kiddo. 🎓✨
