"Student Independence: How Do Quaker Schools Develop It?"

Philadelphia and South Jersey families considering private schools or other public school alternatives often want to know what makes education at a Quaker school distinctive. What is a Quaker school’s approach to learning? How do Quaker values shape the daily student experience? And, crucially, how does a Quaker school help children become confident, capable, and independent?

Upper School Director Allie Levey and Middle School Director Max Bogaert co-authored this piece summarizing the MFS experience:

MFS was recently featured in two Philadelphia Business Journal articles: “Moorestown Friends head sees Quaker values as guide in a changing world” and “Elevating education: Private schools are raising the bar for their campus experience.”

In the first feature, Head of School Julia de la Torre (pictured with students on the Global Leadership Summit trip to Ecuador and Costa Rica this Summer) reflects on Moorestown Friends' Quaker values and addresses how they might help us navigate our complex contemporary society. The second article highlights the local private schools – including MFS – that are elevating the student experience via unique campus facilities, such as the new Thrive Center.
