Many of you have asked over the past year about the future of the animals at Montessori Seeds of Education.

Our goats, chickens, and mini horses were much more than animals on a school property. They were part of our children's daily learning experiences, helping them develop responsibility, empathy, confidence, and a connection to the natural world.
As many know, we were required to remove the animals from campus due to a zoning and legal dispute. Since then, we have explored every reasonable path toward bringing them back.

At this point, we need approximately $14,000 simply to retain legal counsel and continue pursuing a solution. As a small nonprofit school, this is a significant expense.
I have decided that this summer will be our final fundraising effort for this cause. If we are unable to raise the necessary funds by the end of August, I will likely have to accept that bringing the animals back is no longer possible.

If the animals were meaningful to your child, your family, or our school community, I respectfully ask that you consider making a contribution or sharing this post. Every donation helps.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us, encouraged us, and believed in the value of giving children these unique experiences.

Little hands, big learning 💛

This work focuses on sorting and matching—an activity that builds so much more than it seems! 💛

From size discrimination to language development and hand-eye coordination, every piece placed is a step toward independence and confidence.
It’s amazing to watch concentration grow as children explore, problem-solve, and make connections on their own. 🌱

✨ Refining the Senses Through Purposeful Work ✨

During the work cycle, this young learner is engaging in a color-matching and size-grading activity. By sorting and matching the objects to their corresponding cards, he is strengthening his ability to visually discriminate differences in size and color — an important foundation in Sensorial development.

Through hands-on exploration, he is refining:

• Visual discrimination (big/small, color differentiation)

• Size gradation and comparison

• Language development — naming colors and describing attributes

• Concentration and coordination

In Montessori, the hand is the instrument of the mind. Purposeful materials like these allow children to internalize concepts concretely before moving toward abstraction.
We love watching independence, focus, and joyful discovery unfold. 🌿

About a month ago, I shared our fundraiser with the broader community, and I wanted to take a moment to reconnect and share where we are.

At its heart, this effort is about stewardship, responsibility, and rebuilding. We are still working to raise the funds needed to continue the legal process responsibly and, if successful, to restore what was lost so the animals can safely return to the environment they belong in.

We currently need to raise about $13,000 to retain our legal team and move forward. The larger $40,000 goal reflects thoughtful planning — accounting for legal costs that may exceed initial estimates, funds already spent, and the real rebuilding work ahead (such as fencing and animal enclosures) if we are able to bring the animals back.

This isn’t just about a legal case — it’s about preserving something meaningful, navigating the process with integrity, and ensuring that if we’re given the opportunity to rebuild, we can do so safely and responsibly.

If you’ve supported this effort already — through donations, sharing, or encouragement — thank you. Your support truly carries us. If this mission resonates with you and you’re able to help by donating or sharing, we would be deeply grateful.

🌿 Help Us Bring Our Outdoor Oasis to Life 🌿

We are so excited to share that our Outdoor Oasis is no longer just a dream—it’s a professionally designed, thoughtfully planned space that we are actively working to bring to life for our children, families, and the wider community at Montessori Seeds of Education.

This Outdoor Oasis will be more than a playground. It’s envisioned as a nature-rich environment that supports movement, creativity, calm, and connection—an extension of our Montessori philosophy outdoors. 🌱

A meaningful part of this vision is that the space will also be available for families to enjoy outside of school hours, strengthening community bonds and giving children a safe, beautiful place to gather, explore, and grow together.

💚 How you can help:
• Make a donation
• Purchase tickets to support the project
• Share this post or our fundraising link on your own page

Every action—big or small—moves us closer to opening this space for our children and our families.

Thank you for believing in this vision and helping us build something lasting, together. 💫

Today we honor the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr., whose words and actions continue to guide us toward a more just, peaceful, and compassionate world.

At Montessori Seeds of Education, we believe—just as Dr. King did—in educating the whole child: nurturing empathy, respect, courage, and a deep sense of responsibility to one another and our global community.

As Dr. King reminded us:

“Intelligence plus character — that is the goal of true education.”

May we continue to model kindness, stand up for fairness, and teach our children that their voices, actions, and hearts matter. 💛
