We are so proud to have hosted the 7th Annual Moorestown Juneteenth Freedom Day Celebration on June 20th — an afternoon filled with live music, dance, visual art, storytelling, and the kind of community joy that reminds us exactly why this work matters.

Perkins Center for the Arts is honored to serve as the home for this celebration and to stand alongside the Moorestown Juneteenth Committee and our incredible local partners — some longtime collaborators, some joining us for the first time this year — who pour their hearts into making this event happen every June: Dr. James Still Historic Office Site & Education Center, Bethel AME Church Moorestown NJ, Camden FireWorks, MooreUnity, Better Together Moorestown and more. This event belongs to this community — and it shows.

We are grateful to Senator Troy Singleton, Moorestown Mayor Quinton Law, and Deputy Mayor Chris Keating for their support and presence — thank you for showing up for the community.

And a special shoutout to Carl's Shoes for sponsoring this year's event shirts for tie dye!

Here's to 7 years of Freedom Day in Moorestown. We'll see you at year 8.

Audiences were up and out of their seats learning new moves at Dance It Out! Bollywood Style last night! Swati Chaturvedi of the Community Bollywood Dance Project smoothly guided the audiences through energetic Bollywood moves, translating the music everyone would soon dance to in unison. Later on, Ritu Pandya led a joyful group Garba and Dandia (stick) dance and the evening closed out with mesmerizing traditional Bharatanatyam performances by dancers from the Nrithyanjali Institute of Dance. The audience couldn’t take their eyes away! Perkins Center is lucky to host culture bearers so rich in the traditions at this year’s World Stage finale.
