We at the Glades Education Foundation are saddened by the news of Dolly Parton’s passing. We send our deepest condolences to her family and friends during this difficult time.

Dolly, who was best known as the “Queen of Country,” was so much more than just an artist and singer. In 1995, she founded the Imagination Library as a tribute to her father, who could not read or write. She believed that because of this, he missed out on reaching his dreams.

She created this program to offer high-quality books to all children, from newborns to 5-year-olds, regardless of family income, and to inspire children from an early age to love reading. Since 1995, the Imagination Library has distributed more than 332 million free books to children worldwide. As of 2024, the Imagination Library had 3 million children worldwide receiving a monthly book. That means 3 million little readers have the opportunity to get an amazing start in literacy before they reach school age.

The Glades Education Foundation is proud to be a partner of the Imagination Library and to be a part of your child’s literacy foundation. We encourage all Glades County parents with children between the ages of 0 and 5 to submit an application through the Imagination Library so that your child may benefit from this amazing program.

Below, you will find a flyer with a QR code that takes you directly to the Imagination Library’s website, where you can begin the application process. Together, we can help the children of Glades County get a solid start in literacy and foster an early love for reading.
