A much delayed post- dang homework, AP tests, team leadership interviews and team leadership selection.. And dont forget - Robot-ting! We are SUPER proud of our Team Captain Katherine D as she was selected at the Pikes Peak Regional as a FIRST FRC Leadership Award Finalist. She was invited and traveled to FIRST Worlds last weekend to represent her accomplishment. This award recognizes 10th or 11th-grade students for their passion, technical expertise, and leadership. In Colorado, 1 or 2 students are selected from each of 2 Regionals, resulting in 150 student finalists out of 93,000 worldwide program participants. The FIRST Leadership Award, is considered one of the highest individual accomplishments in FIRST Robotics Competition.

Come see how we are preparing students for in-demand careers in the Pikes Peak Region and beyond. Guests will have the opportunity to talk with students, tour our Career and Innovation Center, and learn how businesses and individuals can support the innovative, hands-on learning taking place across D38.

This is a chance to see firsthand how our programs are preparing today’s students for tomorrow’s workforce through real-world skills and meaningful career pathways.

Last Thursday (4/2), we had Cub-Botics, an FLL team for District 38, visit us at the Bearcave. It was so much fun spending time with the bright future of FIRST, and we’re excited to see these kiddos on the team in the years to come! Lewis-Palmer School District 38

We had a great time giving tours, showing off “Hatch 1.2”, and sharing what our team has been working on this season. It was awesome to see many board members, community members, families, and friends come out to support our students.

Team 4068 Bearbotics will be hosting an Open House on March 28 and giving tours at 1, 2, and 3, and we would love for you to stop by. Come visit the Bear Cave to meet our students, see our 2026 robot “Hatch 1.2”, take a look at our workspace and full size field, and learn more about what our team does. Local businesses and community members are also welcome to connect with us about mentorship, partnerships, and internship opportunities for students. We hope to see you there!

Huge shoutout to Bearbotics alumni Kellen Gall for landing a paid internship with Orbital Advisors in Golden, Colorado! Kellen, our former Lead Programmer and now a freshman at the Colorado School of Mines, is building an internal dashboard that helps manage Google Cloud workflows used to analyze satellite data collected each night. Kellen shared that he has been using many of the same logic, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills that he developed during his time in robotics. We are incredibly proud to see our Bearbotics alumni doing amazing things. Congratulations Kellen!

Bearbotics kicked off the 2026 FRC season at the Pikes Peak Regional (March 6-8)! This inaugural regional was definitely one to remember. 🐾

After a great day of qualification matches, we finished with a record of 9-3, and together with our alliance partner, , we scored the first known official Tower Ranking Point for the 2026 game, Rebuilt! 🥳

We had the honor of becoming Alliance Captain for Alliance #5. We competed alongside our alliance partners and . Together we had a great time battling our way to Playoff Match #12.

We were incredibly honored to receive the Gracious Professionalism Award. This award celebrates teams that demonstrate the FIRST Core Values through teamwork, sportsmanship, and supporting other teams both on and off the field.

Congratulations also goes out to our very own team captain, Katherine Dalton, who was named a FIRST Leadership Award Finalist! This recognition highlights students who demonstrate exceptional leadership and dedication to advancing the mission of FIRST within their teams and communities. Congratulations Katherine, we couldn’t be more proud of you!

This competition wouldn’t have been the same without the incredible support from our community. Thank you to the Bearbotics alumni, parents, mentors, and supporters who came out to cheer us on (and keep everyone well fed during a long competition weekend). Special thanks as well to Mr. Shane Mobley, one of our district’s engineering teachers, who came to watch the competition and even brought his parents along!

Of course, you can't have a regional in Colorado without some classic Colorado weather. A storm rolled in Friday morning, canceling district after-school activities across the area, but the competition pressed on. Teams from Taiwan and Louisiana embraced the Colorado weather, battling each other with snowballs and we even spotted a tiny snowman built by another team, which may have been the only robot that didn’t need programming.

Now the team is back in the shop working on Hatch 1.2 design and already preparing to make the modifications needed for our next competition, the Denver Regional in Week 6.
