Happy Birthday to Master Sammy Pejo!

Master Pejo is one of Grandmaster Sang Lee (Dae Sabumnim)'s most senior active students. He has been training under Dae Sabumnim for 45 years.

He and his older brother and sister began training with Dae Sabumnim in 1981 in Binghamton, NY. All 3 became U.S. National Champions. Master Pejo was an alternate for the 1988 and 1992 U.S. Olympic Teams. His younger sister was on the 1st U.S. Olympic Team and won a bronze medal in the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games.

In 1991 he was the World University Champion.
After retiring from competing he was a coach for the U.S. National Senior and Junior teams and Olympic Training Center Coach.

Master Pejo is currently the Vice Chairman and Technical Director for U.S. Taekwondo Center.

Not only is he a great Taekwondo man but an all around great man.
A little known fact: Master Pejo shares his birthday with his wife!

U.S. Taekwondo Center is all over the city of Colorado Springs today! Masters Dias and Priya are the Korean Festival in downtown Colorado Springs.

The Demonstration team will be performing at 3:00 PM today. Stop by and say hello!

Master Park taught some basic Taekwondo movements this morning at the Colorado Springs Korean Language School.

The school is next door to the 1st U.S. Taekwondo Center in the country that was opened in 1986 (seen in the background of these pictures). Due to the shifting demographics of Colorado Springs we sold this building in 2021.

Thank you Principal Lee for allowing us to be there today.

Principal Lee's son Justin earned his 3rd degree black belt at U.S. Taekwondo Center and later graduated from the Naval Academy

Both are multi-year members of the USA National Poomsae team
