What $27 Billion in Tutoring Still Isn’t Fixing
📄 The U.S. poured over $27 billion into tutoring programs post-COVID.
Yet today…
📉 Only 15% of students receive any tutoring
📉 Less than 2% receive high-quality tutoring
📉 And 99% of schools still report students behind in math and reading

So what’s missing?
In high-income households, families often can afford private tutoring — but even then, the model often fails neurodiverse students.

Here’s what many tutoring programs still get wrong:
Focusing only on grades instead of cognition, confidence, and self-awareness
Using rigid, reactive instruction instead of adaptive, strengths-based support
Failing to coach executive functioning and communication, which are essential for long-term success

If you have a child who’s gifted, 2e, ADHD, or simply doesn’t learn in “expected” ways — you already know:
- A great tutor doesn’t just help your child catch up.
- They help them break through.
- Academic success isn’t just about content.
- It’s about clarity, confidence, and capability — built with care.

Is hope contagious?
I’ve been thinking about my paradigm a lot this year and how I view the world- from personal life to my profession and politics. The “same old way” is rarely, if ever, good enough, and to grow I need to be committed to that sometimes painful process of fighting for hope and a better paradigm.

Pass on hope!

We love talking about students’ strengths. We build entire educational philosophies around finding what kids are good at and helping them excel. But here’s the irony:

We almost never do this for teachers. I've recorded a video for you to consider along with today's newsletter.

Think about it. In whatever industry you’re in—education, business, tech—when was the last time you actively identified and optimized your strengths? Not just "what you need to improve" but what you’re already great at and how to double down on it - and help others do the same?

Unlocking Teacher Strengths: The Key to Student Success! 🎓🔥

We always talk about student strengths—but what about teacher strengths? Every classroom thrives when educators are empowered, confident, and supported. Yet, too often, professional development focuses on fixing weaknesses instead of amplifying what teachers do best.

Neurodiverse minds aren’t weird. They’re wired for something greater. We just need to recognize it and do what it takes to help them find it.

Ever worked with someone who can juggle five ideas at once but forgets where they left their coffee? You know the type- their calendar is a mess - if they even have one. Or taught a student who can’t sit still but can build entire worlds in Minecraft? Neurodiverse minds have been mislabeled and mi

A teacher once told Tim Reynolds, the founder of a wildly successful British pub chain, that he would never amount to anything. She looked at him, with no hesitation, and said, “You’ll fail.” Struggling with reading and writing, Reynolds was dismissed, written off, and labeled a lost cause. But what no one saw coming was that Reynolds wasn’t interested in fitting the mold they had set for him. Instead, he took the teacher’s doubt and turned it into fuel for his determination. He built a multi-million-dollar business from the ground up—and as a sharp reminder of how far he had come, he named the pub chain after that teacher JD Wetherspoon, as a defiant tribute to the very teacher who said he’d fail - a name that would forever echo his victory over the limits others had tried to impose on him!

What’s RIGHT With Kids These Days? A teacher once told Tim Reynolds, the founder of a wildly successful British pub chain, that he would never amount to anything. She looked at him, with no hesitation, and said, “You’ll fail.
