Supine Spinal Twist
or Supta Matsyendrasana
I recently used this posture as a closing Yin, calm it all down, finishing posture. I looked over to see a row of students assisting one another in order to take it deeper. What an incredible act of compassion and love for your mat mate. Supta Matsyendrasana is just that kina pose... and here is why.
As a student I love this posture because it just feels so damn good after a hot sweaty flow.
As a teacher there is a ton of reasons why I use it. Here are a few;
*Its a great counter pose to back bends
*Calms the nervous system
*Stretches out the back muscles and glutes. And with the addition of the top leg extended, the hamstrings.
*aids in digestion
But ultimately, I love teaching this posture because it just feels so damn good. ๐๐ฝ Namaste!
