Summer flew by- but it’s one of our favorite times of the year!

We love treating our area teachers and staff to Tootie's Sweets during workshop week.

We recognize all that they do for our students throughout the school year and this is a delicious way to show them our appreciation!

We're one week out from opening day!

In the meantime, we're welcoming families in for open houses.

* BCMS starts things off this afternoon with an open house from 4:30-7:30 p.m.
* All elementary open houses are from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday evening, Aug. 25.
* The BHS/Phoenix open house is from 4:30-7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 26.

It may seem to early to be thinking about this since school has just ended, and summer just began. But this program Project Pencils of Wright County was started in the summer of 2010. A small group of social workers and other Wright County Human Services' staff were brainstorming about a way to help their clients who could not afford school supplies and decided to start collecting donations. The first year, Project Pencils of Wright County helped 40 children by giving them some of the supplies they needed to start school. In 2017, they were able to help 348 local students start school with a backpack and all (or most of) their school supplies! Brandy Vollbrecht put her heart and countless hours into this wonderful project.

Project Pencils is a Wright County organization that is dedicated to providing school supplies for students in need. Families contact us with their needs and we reach out to our volunteers to "adopt" students' specific supply lists. Through the generosity of donors and volunteers who purchase supplies for individual needs, we have been able to help more than 4,500 students. In 2025, we covered the full school supply needs of 865 students.

Thursday we celebrated our amazing 5th graders with our annual 5th Grade Clap Out! 🎉👏

As they walked the halls one last time as elementary students, they were cheered on by staff, students, and families who have watched them learn, grow, and shine! ✨ We are so proud of all they have accomplished and the incredible young people they have become. 🩵

As they begin their next chapter in middle school, we wish them the very best of luck. While they may be leaving our halls, they will always be a part of our school family. Remember that we are always here for you, cheering you on and celebrating your successes every step of the way.

Congratulations, 5th graders! We can't wait to see all the amazing things your future holds.
