Pope John Paul II Academy We are an independent, private academy in the Catholic tradition, serving Pre-K–8th grade in beautiful Montrose, CO. John Paul II. ft.

Our dynamic faculty joyfully live the New Evangelization for God’s greater glory, inspired by Pope St. Founded in 2008, the academy is fully accredited by NAPCIS, and accepts students from K-4 - 8th grades. In October of 2013, the academy moved into its 17,000+ sq. facility which includes 10 classrooms, a library, and a full sized gym on 20 acres of land. The faculty is a dynamic, faithful team of committed Catholics striving to realize the New Evangelization of St.

Last Friday, we were blessed with a visit from Fr. Carl Wertin, who is the Director of Vocations for the Diocese of Pueblo.

He visited with our classes, shared his vocation story, and gave our students great advice for discerning their vocation! Thank you Fr. Carl!

El viernes pasado tuvimos el honor de recibir la visita del P. Carl Wertin, director de vocaciones de la Diócesis de Pueblo.

During our morning assembly, they also learned about redemption, grace, and other Catholic themes present in Star Wars!

Introducing the Pope John Paul II Academy Mountaineers!

We are thrilled to announce that in the Fall of 2026, we will officially become the Mountaineers! This change reflects the renewal of the identity that allowed our school to open its doors in 2008 and thrive into the present!

The Mountaineer embodies our school community's climb towards the Summit; excellence in all things, forming excellent citizens, and inspiring the future saints of Heaven.

It is also inspired by our namesake, Pope John Paul II, who was an avid mountaineer and loved spending his free time surrounded by the beauty of God's creation!

Thank you for your partnership in our mission! We are excited to fully embrace this identity in the Fall!

¡Presentamos a los Mountaineers de la Academia Juan Pablo II!

¡Estamos encantados de anunciar que, en otoño de 2026, nos convertiremos oficialmente en los Mountaineers! Este cambio refleja la renovación de la identidad que permitió a nuestro colegio abrir sus puertas en 2008 y prosperar hasta el día de hoy.

El «Mountaineer» (alpinista) encarna el ascenso de nuestra comunidad escolar hacia la cima: la excelencia en todo, la formación de ciudadanos excelentes y la inspiración de los futuros santos del Cielo.
