This will be a special field trip! We will have a behind-the-scenes tour with the amazing owner, Gayle. (This is a family owned nursery with a fantastic, long history in Montrose.) We will also embark on a planting project, and as an extra bonus, we will be able to watch a tree being planted! I have heard that is a very particular process.🌲 I am a lifelong learner, I can't wait to soak in this new information.

🎨 The Spring Break Art Workshops were incredible! The plan was to meet at the Community Meeting Room next to the Police Station, but we ended up enjoying the beautiful weather while providing enriching activities outside at Centennial Plaza.

The students learned about a select few of our favorite Great Master Artists: Michelangelo, George Seurat, Pablo Picasso, Claude Monet, Piet Mondrian, Georgia O’Keeffe, Wassily Kandinsky, and Andy Warhol. We also learned about handicapped artists who have the need to create art, they will do so with their mouths and their feet. We experimented with painting with our mouths!

🖼️ We also had an Art Show! Aside from the parents in attendance, a group of Police Officers came to visit, as well as students from Community Options. Our students were proud of the new information they learned and the amazing replicas of the Great Master Artists that they made in their own style.

We introduced the concept of “En Plein Aire” - the French term meaning to create an art project outside in the style of Claude Monet. My art is inspiring our students and the community, “En Plein Aire.”
