A warm Hendrick Hudson welcome to some of the newest members of our school community! 🍎

Last week, our new teachers came together for two days of orientation, getting to know the district, connecting with colleagues and preparing for the school year ahead.

We’re excited to welcome this talented group to Hen Hud and can’t wait for our students and families to get to know them, too!

A special thank you to the Hendrick Hudson Free Library for generously hosting us and providing such a welcoming space to begin their Hen Hud journey.

Welcome to the team — and here’s to a great year ahead!

Sailor Pride! ⚓💙

Our newest BMMS students got a head start on sixth grade yesterday!

Incoming sixth graders gathered at the Verplanck Waterfront for the Sixth Grade Social — a chance to reconnect with friends, meet new classmates, spend some time with their new school leaders, and just have some fun together before the school year begins.

It was great to see our students enjoying the afternoon and getting a little more comfortable with the transition from FGL to BMMS.

Next stop: sixth grade! We can’t wait to welcome you to BMMS next week!

As we prepare to welcome students back, Superintendent Tromblee shares a detailed update on capital project work across the district, including the current status of projects still underway at each of our buildings.

While we anticipate very little disruption to the student experience, some work remains in progress. We want our community to be aware of where things stand and of any project elements that may still be underway as school opens. Where necessary, contingency plans are being developed to minimize any impact on students.

We will continue monitoring progress closely and will share a final update on any items that may affect students just before opening day.

This summer, Ms. Sickles worked with incoming K–3rd grade ENL students to build their English language skills while helping them become more familiar with their school. Each day, students read stories about different places within the school building, such as the classroom, library, cafeteria, and gym. Students then drew and colored pictures of each location, labeled important objects they might see there, and wrote a sentence explaining what they would do in that area.

Students also enjoyed special visits from Wayne, a certified therapy dog, and Mrs. Whitson, who joined in to support and encourage their learning. Throughout the program, students practiced reading, writing, speaking, vocabulary, and presentation skills in fun and meaningful ways.

As a culminating activity, each student created their own book about the different places in the school and proudly shared it in front of their teachers and peers. This project gave students an opportunity to celebrate their hard work, build confidence speaking in front of others, and get excited for the upcoming school year!
