Happy Summer Everyone!!
A few important dates to be aware of (event details will be shared later):
- 8/19 - Family Potluck and BBQ @ Hubbard Park - 5:30 - 7:30
- 8/22 - Family Volunteer Work Pizza Party @ Pacem - 9:00am - 1:00pm
- 8/27 - School Year Orientation - Time TBD but it will be an after work/early evening event to go over the handbook, volunteer expectations, class schedule, ask questions, etc.
- 9/1 - Outdoor Day
- 9/2 - First Day of School!

A wonderful tribute to Pacem Senior Silas Ehrlich-Garry

STUDENT SPOTLIGHT - The Pacem School community in Montpelier, VT, lost several influential students to graduation last year, so this year, Silas Ehrlick Garry stepped up to the plate. Now a senior prepping for his own graduation, Silas spends much of his time playing soccer and ultimate frisbee, but he famously makes time for all things Pacem. The school is multi-level, so Silas works hard to include all ages. Younger students look up to him, and teachers trust him. “Silas is the quintessential example of leading by example,” says Aaron Starmer, a Pacem literature teacher. “He fills awkward classroom silences with trenchant insights, self-deprecating humor and unabashed curiosity. He also shares his learning strategies with others who are struggling to find their academic footing. And, most importantly, he encourages his fellow students and teachers to value Pacem and our time here by spearheading and participating in as many events and experiences as possible.” Silas was by his nominator’s side when that person had a falling out with a friend. “Silas ate lunch with me and talked to me every day, so I wouldn’t eat alone,” his nominator said. “It meant the world to me.” Step into the Student Spotlight, Silas Ehrlick Garry!
