VTAEYC Conference Attendance has been Entered!

Northern Lights at CCV is responsible for entering attendance from sponsors into BFIS Quality Credentialing accounts. This year, the VTAEYC annual conference included 43 training sessions with more than 1,900 individual attendance entries. We received the annual conference attendance from VTAEYC on November 28th and as of December 8th all attendance has been entered.

Shout out to the Northern Lights Registry Team - Laura, Tiffany, Luke, Deb, and Benj and our fabulous Registry Manager, Sonja, for all their hard work!!

New Training for Sponsors and Facilitators!

Join Becky Millard to learn more about how Sponsors can offer Recognized Communities of Practice in Vermont. Recognized Communities of Practice will allow participants to receive training hours that can count toward training requirements for child care licensing.

This training provides an overview of the criteria, process, and timeline for implementation of Recognized Communities of Practice. It is designed for sponsors and for folks interested in becoming facilitators for communities of practice.

We currently have five sections of Fundamentals that will run during the spring semester with Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday class options. Resource Advisors provide career advising to early childhood and afterschool professionals, plan and offer high quality trainings, and play a key role in implementing the professional development system.

Medication Administration

Participants who work in child care or afterschool programs will demonstrate procedures for receiving, storing, preparing, administering, and documenting administration of medications for children; describe and demonstrate what to do for signs and symptoms of an asthma attack and allergic reaction; and describe symptoms of adverse reactions to medication and actions to take when they are observed.

Several sections of Medication Administration training will be offered this November and December. These usually fill fast so be sure to register now to reserve your preferred day/time!

Supporting Families Experiencing Homelessness

This training provides strategies for early childhood and afterschool programs to welcome and support children and families who are experiencing homelessness. Participants will explore the impacts of homelessness on young children and their families, common stigmas and attitudes toward homelessness, and local and regional resources.
