Our school foyer now features a small memorial honoring the extraordinary Dolly Parton. 🦋

Dolly has meant so much to music, to Kentucky, and to every child who ever opened a book thanks to her big heart. The very best way we can keep her spirit alive is to do exactly what she loved most: get our kids excited about reading! 📚

If you have a child from birth up to age 5, we encourage you to sign them up for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library! Registered children receive a free, high-quality, age-appropriate book mailed to their home every single month. Registrations can be done online at https://imaginationlibrary.com/kentucky/ .

Construction may have us learning to “pivot” around WELC, but one thing remains unchanged, the heart of this place. 🦺 🔨

It’s not about the building we share… it’s about the people we share it with. The laughter, teamwork, patience, flexibility, and willingness to make it work for our students.

And we’re extra thankful for our cafeteria staff, who continue to serve our students with a smile and help keep things running smoothly, no matter what construction throws our way.

The votes are in: the first day of school at Walker Early Learning Center was a massive success! 📚

Our Little Cardinals fluttered into their classrooms today bringing all the joy, the excitement, and smiles. Our teachers dove right into the fun—and honestly, they deserve a gold star (and a nap) for keeping everyone pointing in the same direction!

A special day at WELC! Our office staff and kindergarten teachers officially cut the ribbon to their newly renovated office and classrooms. The celebration continued with a beautiful prayer over our teachers, staff, and students as we begin a new school year tomorrow. ✂️ ❤️

As part of the exciting changes coming to WELC, we are shifting our parent drop-off and pick-up locations starting 8/25/26.

Quick Tips for a Smooth Ride:

Check the Maps: Take a quick look at the attached visual guides so you know exactly where to turn and loop around.

Stay Cozy in Your Car: Hang tight in your driver’s seat—our team will be on hand to pop doors and help students safely in and out.

Patience & Smiles Welcome: Please drive slow, keep your eyes on the road (no phones, please!), and follow our staff traffic helpers.
