Jasper County High School TSA The Technology Student Association (TSA) is the only student organization devoted exclusively to the needs of students interested in technology.

Technology Student Association (TSA) is the organization for students interested in technology, engineering, and film at Jasper County High School in Monticello, Georgia. Open to students enrolled in or who have completed technology education courses, TSA’s membership includes over 180,000 middle and high school students in 2,000 schools spanning 48 states. TSA is supported by educators, parents a

nd business leaders who believe in the need for a technologically literate society. Members learn through exciting competitive events, leadership opportunities and much more. The diversity of activities makes TSA a positive experience for every student. From engineers to business managers, our alumni credit TSA with a positive influence on their lives.

November 14, 2025:

Jasper County High School Technology Student Association (TSA) won second place in the Electrathon electric vehicle race on Jekyll Island as part of the TSA Fall Leadership Conference. Driver Francisco Lopez completed 90 laps in 60 minutes in a field of 25 cars, built and driven by high school students across the state. His pit crew was headed by Ransel Hidalgo and Eric Perez. A total of 12 JCHS engineering and film students attended the conference.

March 12, 2025:

The Jasper County High School Technology Student Association (TSA) competed in the State Electrathon electric vehicle race at Lanier Raceway in Braselton. JCHS senior and driver Isai Lugo and his awesome pit crew finished the race with 86 laps in 60 minutes in the Lithium Ion advanced battery class, earning 9th place overall amidst tough competition from a field of over 25 racers. WHAT: TRIVIA NIGHT FUNDRAISER (16th annual)

WHERE: Jasper County High School

WHEN: Thu Jan 16, 2025 @ 6-8pm

WHO: Teams up to 5 members
(businesses, churches, schools, civic groups, families, friends, etc)

WHY: To enjoy a rousing night of fun trivia and community competition AND to support the JCHS Academic Teams

Free popcorn! Concessions, including pizza by the slice, will be on sale and teams will receive points for right answers, enthusiasm/community participation and team coordination . . . and as always, we will have a special "songbird" recognition for the team who guesses the highest number of correct artists and pieces from audio clips.

JCHS students Ransel Hidalgo-Lopez and Kayla Pulliam raced a custom-built cardboard and duct tape boat across a pool on Jekyll Island at the TSA Fall Conference. Isai Lugo was pit boss and Jordan Jeffries helped in the design and construction back at JCHS.

JCHS TSA at the Georgia Electrathon electric vehicle race on Jekyll Island. Driver JCHS senior Isai Lugo completed 90 laps in 60 minutes with no mechanical problems! Pit boss Ransel Hidalgo-Lopez led the crew for this fine machine.

Technology Student Association (TSA) at Jasper County High School hosted 2016 JCHS alum Stephen Arena. Stephen spoke about his experiences in high school engineering and TSA, as well as college projects at Berry College in Rome, GA. He also highlighted his current job as a systems engineer with Micro Technology Consultants (MTC) in the middle Georgia area. He emphasized to students the concept of "failing forward," always learning from mistakes and building upon one's experiences.

JCHS TSA at Tech Day at Georgia National Fair in Perry. Gravity Car built by Ethan Stachowicz, Colton Hinton, and James Watson won 2nd place and $75! Ariel Mincey and Francisco Lopez raced custom-built wooden CO2 dragsters, while Ransel Hidalgo-Lopez competed in the Rubber Band Powered Plane event. Brody Hilliard represented in the Candy Dispenser Manufacturing Prototype contest. Upcoming 5th grade engineer Steen Harty was the team mascot.

Electrathon update: Isai Lugo, our last minute driver switch (due to forgetting ballast to reach minimum driver weight), rode out an amazing 76 laps in 60 minutes, despite a 10-min out stop to fix a tire blow out. In the lead acid race, Brady Eggleston completed 30 laps before losing power. Time to buy new batteries. Great showing from JCHS TSA. We won’t know the final standings till Saturday awards.

Exciting day to be racing at Lanier Speedway in Braselton at the TSA Electrathon race. JCHS student Brady Eggleston is racing in the lead-acid category first, followed by Braden Hoffman in the advanced battery class. As many laps as possible in 60 minutes on one set of batteries. Go Hurricanes!

JCHS TSA students prepare for the "Flight Endurance" event at the upcoming TSA State Conference in Athens, GA. Isai Lugo, Braden Hoffman, Brady Eggleston, Maelee Hamblin, Asher McQueen, and Kenyan Davis all worked for months designing, building, testing, and tweaking the lightweight, rubber-band powered balsa wood flyers. Local flight enthusiast Lee Russell workshopped weekly with the students. A truly great student engineering project!
