🌲🌳🌿 Thanks to a grant from Sullivan 180, 10 Rutherford teachers attended two days of Forest School training last week. The teachers learned how to integrate nature into student learning. They can’t wait to start bringing their lessons to the great outdoors!

Today, Ms. Johnson celebrated the creative achievements of her authors and illustrators with a publishing party! Students searched, modeled, and wrote about their favorite animal. Ms. Johnson collected all their work in her annual habit of publishing a class book. Students enjoyed juice, and donuts along with animal crackers 🤣 as each student proudly posed with their published pages💙🐾

Nancy Vlau (Vee oh) sparked inspiration yesterday with an assembly focused on nurturing creativity and guiding students through the journey of becoming authors. Mrs. Elghaly had the pleasure of introducing Alex Baer, a talented 3rd-grade writer and illustrator, to Vee oh. Alex shared his book with her, signing a copy and posing for a photo. We couldn't be prouder of this young talent and look forward to seeing the amazing things he'll achieve 💙🐾

Students in Ms. Ormsby's third-grade class participated in a hands-on experience to demonstrate magnetic fields. Students were able to demonstrate magnetic properties as part of their science curriculum.

Mrs. Elghaly's class experienced an unforgettable experience when Alex Baer was surprised by a visit from his grandpa, Bill Slutsky, and uncle Billy Slutsky, who arrived on their motorcycles, sparking an engaging lesson on safety and responsibility. Bill and Billy empowered the students with crucial knowledge, encouraging them to ask thoughtful questions. To reinforce their learning, Mr. Slutsky created a worksheet, and as a memorable token of their encounter, each student received a pop-it motorcycle 🏍️.
