Dear Lincoln School Friends,
It is with a heavy heart that I share the passing of Mrs. Susan Shiley. She was a secretary at Lincoln School for 22 years before she retired in 2020. She gave out hundreds of bandaids, held countless hands of children missing mom and dad, reassured parents sending their child to school for the first time, provided staff members with a warm smile to start the day, and was often referred to as the principal-let's face it, she was the one really in charge :)! We are all better people for having known her and will miss her terribly.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Vogt

We have been informed that the funeral for Chris Oberheim will be Wednesday in Decatur with burial in Monticello. A procession will drive from the funeral to the cemetery. The family has requested the local VFW work with an organization to post flags along the procession route. We have been contacted by The Flagman Mission (https://www.theflagmanmission.org) who will be bringing 2500 flags to line the route.
We need the assistance of any and all people available to post the flags at 3PM-5PM on Monday (5/24) and take them down at 3PM-5PM on Thursday (5/27). Please meet in the Sievers Center parking lot (Kratz Road behind Monticello High School) by 3PM on Monday to receive instructions from Flagman Mission Organizer Jeff Hastings. Jeff will have everything needed to get the job done - he suggested you bring gloves. This is an excellent opportunity for Monticello to once again show our support for the Oberheim Family. All ages and families welcome. Feel free to share this request on social media and with anyone who might be interested in assisting in this effort.

May is bike month and Wednesday, May 5 is Bike to School Day. We understand that with the age of our students that might not be feasible so consider taking a family bike ride after school that day.
